Question, could this be a TDRL or P&T…

NARSUM states:

“It appears highly unlikely the Service Member will resolve symptoms and impairments due to PTSD (Combat) and MDD, Recurrent, Severe during a three-year period sufficiently enough to be able to return to duty. There is no evidence to suggest that, without the rigors of military duty, the condition would deteriorate in the next 3 years beyond its natural course such that the SM would be unable to maintain steady civilian employment. There is not a requirement to monitor or provide treatment for the Service Member's chronic conditions beyond 12 months”

I think you mean TDRL or PDRL. P&T is a VA term not used by the PEB.

Its pretty rare for mental health conditions to be PDRL. I don't think there is enough information there to know which way the PEB will go. If I had to bet I would bet TDRL.

Yes, PDRL. Thanks for the correction. My PEBLO Also stated most likely TDRL. You’re correct, that was just the prognosis statement.

What are the chances for fit or unfit given that statement…

For the Army most conditions that are referred end up being unfit. Some branches like the Navy lean towards fit. I would assume if referred for mental health for the Army you will be found unfit for that condition.

This Soldier's behavioral health condition is unstable because placement on the TDRL is required for behavioral health condition IAW DoDM 1332.18,
V-1, Enc. 4, para 1.d. (2) and 2.b, and 38 CFR 4.129. The TDRL reevaluation will occur within six months of the Soldier's separation from service.

All BH conditions for the DoD side must be TDRL by law. VA on the other hand can be PDRL immediately.

The exception is if you have other PDRL unfitting conditions that max you out at 75% DOD. Then the mental health condition will be PDRL:)

I was 70% DoD TDRL 100% VA Perm. so I missed that PDRL 75% threshold I guess lol.

Semantics.

PDRL = term used only by DoD for Permanent Disability Retired List

Permanent and Total (P&T) = Term used by VA for permanent rating @ 100%.

There are many instances of BH conditions resulting in PDRL. TDRL is required if the BH condition arrives from one or more traumatic events.
