Best companies for VA loans?

Yeah, absolutely. 199 appeal files yesterday (paper / documents only, no formal appeal requested, no VA recomp requested), just need a 214 I think, and we'd likely move forward with buying something.

Good thing to read about the ORVET program - the less wait time for documents needed, the quicker you can move along in your transition.

Oregon does NOT have a sales tax. We do however, have state income tax.

Also, check to see if you can get a reduction on your property tax.

I just got new Oregon State car plates. Cost WAY less for me as a Vet, too. And plates good for any ONE car I ever register in Oregon for life - don't have to buy renewal tags for life with these plates. Plates can transfer from one vehicle to the next.

I have used Quicken Loans for two VA loans and would recommend them. I refi'd out of an ARM into a fixed rate note several years ago. A few years after that called me and said the rates had dropped and they could do a VA IRRL to lower my rate to 3.25% if I wanted. No out of pocket and no fees rolled into loan. I asked them what they stood to gain and why they were actively seeking less money (through reduced rate). The representative responded they "were trying to look after those who served." Whatever the reason, at no cost to me, I wasn't one to argue.

They have very competitive rates and are comparable to USAA in that you will submit all your documents online, but I found they were easy to reach by phone if needed. At closing, they sent someone to our home. It was a painless and easy process.

Quicken is pretty good in my book. Even though we have had some problems with miscommunication (which is partly my fault and partly theirs) they have been pretty good about coming back and clearing up any misunderstandings. I would not go with Wells Fargo for the simple fact that I do not trust them.
