BDD Claim Closed and VA gave me proposed rating from IDES Claims

Howdy everybody,
On New Year's Day I submitted a BDD claim for sleep apnea(was advised by a VA rating specialist who called). This BDD claim for sleep apnea has since been closed even though the "received date" is in May 2024. During this time it would appear my IDES claim rating percentage have been proposed.

My question is why did the VA merge my claims? I'm a little surprised by this. Called the VA and they told me, "it looks like they're working it now".

Yep. Same thing happened to my wife. One big claim!

It benefitted your wife I assume?
She got 50% for being prescribed a cpap machine. All she uploaded was her sleep study results and her CPAP prescription and she was awarded 50%. Since she was rated for asthma it was grouped together. Her asthma rating was only 10% so getting that added still helped. On the plus side. Since Asthma is grouped together with Sleep Apnea and Asthma is a presumptive condition it helped her greatly for her CRSC. With Asthma alone she would have gotten 10% but since they grouped them together she got 50% for CRSC even though sleep apnea isn't presumptive for CRSC.

If we're in IDES are we able to submit BDD if we need to claim something that wasn't claimed initially? My case is closed and I have my proposed va rating.

Yes, I would submit a claim WITH MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION while you're still active duty. Sooner the better.

You can submit a fully developed claim.

So I submitted a BDD claim after my IDES claim closed (proposed 90%). I checked the app and the status of the bdd claim shows preparing for notification. Will I actually be able to see the proposed rating of the bdd claim since technically I'm not supposed to until the PEB is complete?

Potentially, my BDD was merged with my IDES claim and closed. I got a proposed 70%

I don't think mine merged. I still see 2 claims closed. I filed the bdd claim 5 days ago and it seems like it was pretty quick to close out.

Same happened with me. I was told by the VA that my ratings were in the hands of the PEB and when they make a fitting/unfitting decision it will go back to the VA for the finalized rating.

This! My wife's BDD claim was merged with the IDES claim and everything finalized at the same time shortly after she was medically retired. Also, make sure to upload DD214 the day after you retire!

So essentially I won't get an updated proposed rating until the peb finalized and I get my findings? Or when I separate and submit my DD214

There will be no updated proposed rating at all. You will find out the ratings that you added for the BDD once they are finailize after you get out and are Veteran. I mentioned to upload your DD214 because that is the last document needed to finalize your VA claim after you get out.
