April IPEB Packages

I don't see an April thread here, so I'll start one...

Dec 08 - In a car accident and hurt my neck
Oct 10 - MEB initiated
11 Apr 11 - NARSUM signed off, sent to IPEB 18 Apr 11
- was told to expect 2 months, but have been hearing of some coming back in 3 weeks to a month

My package was received at Walter Reed on 11 April 2011.

PEBLO said it is taking up to 3 months.

My package was also recieved by the PEB on April 11th at Walter Reed ( i'm active duty Army ). My PEBLO told me 30-45 days was her recent experience, so given her track record with dates mine should be back in early 2012... ;-) GodSpeed little PEB!

My PEBLO told me that Waler Reed (PEB) is moving (not sure what that means) and they will be shutting down for 2-4 weeks somtime in May.

I'm going old school, no IDES for me. So with IDES do you have a better feel for the PEB outcome because of the VA rating?

I'm kind of in the dark until my fit/unfit finding comes back cause I'll get that and the proposed VA rating at the same time. So it's all a big waiting game until then.

Figured I'd update this a bit. I've read two posts this week about results. Both under the "old" system, and both returned under three weeks. Things are moving...

I am under the new system my packet sent to Walter Reed on the 8th March 2011 and I am still waiting on a fit vs unfit...sigh trying to exercise patience but its getting quite difficult

Under IDES, my IPEB findings took 4.5 months from date of submission. Don't cause yourself unnecessary stress by watching "old" system folks' ratings coming back in a flash.

What is the difference between the "old system and now? I've just notice many people commenting on the "old" way in threads...

Amygal82,

With all due respect... read. I will entertain your question though. :) Under the "old" system a soldier only receives a DOD rating. However, under the "new" system a soldier receives both DOD and VA ratings. That's it in a nutshell. :)

Thanks for the input Cat.

I just talked to my PEBLO and the word is that the board is now working on the packages received on 14 April. Mine was sent 18 Apr and received 21 Apr.

I do read. I know that there is talk of changing the system, but it hasn't been implimented yet. That's why i did not understand what was meant by the 'old' system. Also when people spoke of the'pilot program' I thought it was a different way to rate pilots. lol. I had to google it to find what it was. So I am under the 'old' system. Nervous because they did not include a lot on my 618...

IDES is the new system, and to sum it up roughly, you get your VA ratings at the same time that you get your DoD rating. Needless to say, this takes a little longer for initial results to come back. I am not under the new system however, so am no expert on it.

I would perfere the new system and know what was going to happen to me before I get out. I heard some people wait a year for their VA ratings.
