Anybody take Chantix/Varenicline for nightmares?

Before I type a word, up front I need to say I'm NOT recommending anybody actually take this stuff if they never have. Look it up - it's meant to help quit smoking (and boy does it work), but I've heard an awful laundry list of side effects up to and including suicide. So if you're already depressed/anxious/suicidal and you're even considering this, HAVE SOMEBODY WATCH YOU REALLY CLOSELY.

Thankfully, it never had that effect on me.

Got that out of the way...I just wanted to ask, has anybody else ever experienced/heard of this working? I began taking it to quit smoking, and a few days after I started taking it I noticed that my dreams became REALLY strange. Usually not even nightmares, but even when they are nightmares, they're not about anything real. I trust I don't need to share details. I'd rather chased through the streets of New York by a robotic spider and my ex girlfriend waving a cleaver than relive something real.

Anyway...shorter version...it made my dreams so vivid and absolutely STRANGE that these dreams seem to have shoved my nightmares off to one side. Has anyone ever had this happen or known somebody who it happened to? It seems too dangerous to experiment with, but I can't help asking...what if?

Unusual dreams is a known side effect of Chantix. It is interesting that this side effect had a positive effect by changing your dream pattern. It looks like you got a two-fer by taking Chantix.
