Anxiety question

I have had anxiety for about 10 years. It started from Iraq and continued through out my service. It has now gotten to the point where I need help and I am now seeing a doc for it.

I am in the guard and have not been on orders my entire career and I was just wondering how do you think this is going to play out?

I have always hid my anxiety from work and taken time off if it was bad enough, but it just seems to be very severe as of late.

I am on orders right now, but they end in a month or so.

Do you think I screwed myself by never getting help, or does it help that I am now on orders getting help?

Any input would be helpful as I can't sleep because of the stress this is causing!

if you are injured or have an illness, seek treatment. The military keeps rolling along and no matter your grade or position, the mission will get done while you get better.

Are you obtaining treatment now?

I don't think you screwed yourself. A lot of service members don't get help for long periods of time due to a number of reasons. One of my Uncle's married a woman that was in the Air Force over 20 years ago who finally started getting treatment not long ago and she ended being rated for it when a claim was put in. Just continue to do what you're doing by getting the help you need and making sure everything is documented. Who knows, you may even get a little better along the way.
