I am going crazy waiting for mine also. It looks like we are on the same timeframe and when I ask for a status I just get AFPC has it. I was told it takes est 2 weeks after they receive my VA rating... that was on 08 Jul 12 ...... I AM STILL WAITING!!! I tried calling the VA to verify they sent the package over today and made an phone appt on Thursday... My base tells me to me I don't know why it is taking so long but be patient --- I have been going through this for two years (they lost package, it go dropped, .... every excuse in the book for two years....) My leadership just says were looking into and three weeks later says AFPC has it and its done, I know that isn't the process because if it was done I would have it.

It sure is amazing how we are truly just numbers and case files to the people involved in deciding our fate.:( What if, when asked to go fight to maintain freedom for the IDES people, we say "well, you need to submit a package, and (although it may takes months for us to even look at it), we will eventually get back to you with an answer".

So my commander called my PEBLO yesterday, and she admitted to "making stuff up" whenever I would ask her when I could expect to hear something from AFPC. I was also told that I need to stop calling my PEBLO for updates, as she doesn't know anything and it slows her down at work. Needless to say I am very angry and have no idea what to do. All I've been told is that my package is in the final stage, but no one can tell me when I can expect my phone call. What should I do? Should I call AFPC myself, or would that just get me into trouble??

That's there job she is your PEBLO. If they don't want to help you go over there head. you have other options too, IG, Congressman, and so on. I know i have a good relationship with my PEBLO i check in once a week. Normally i just ask any updates? you can try calling AFPC, the number was posted in the forum to AFPC disabilities, but normally won't talk to you they will only talk to the PEBLO. Sorry i'm not great help on this one. good luck!

Jazz, have your CC call again and ask for the regional managers number then call and state the problems with getting the run around. Have the CC tell them he want to know who has/where is your package along with a time frame.

Good luck.

I'm in Hawaii. Unfortunately my CC ordered me to quit calling my PEBLO for updates and told me to just wait it out. I'm not sure where to go from this point. I know I'm not supposed to call AFPC directly, but I'm running out of options.
It's funny...I was advised that if I didn't want to sell my leave back that I should just take it when I could. I'm using up my last 10 days starting Saturday. This has really put me in a bind.
Any suggestions on what I should do next?

Jazz, i am also on Hickam and dealing with the headache. I received my orders today....good and bad, good I have them...bad they are wrong. They have me retired as of 8 Aug without me taking my 30 house hunting and 60 days leave. So now having to fight the system to TRY to get it fixed in time, I have to be signed out of base and on Terminal on the 8th Not retired until Novemver. Just another cluster @&$)

How long was it between IPEB/AFPC receiving the VA ratings and you getting your final decision ("the phone call")? I've been waiting since 7 June...

These are not giving me hope. I am also at Hickam and I stopped at the PEBLO's office a couple of weeks ago to find out where I was at. This was the first time I have seen her since we sent the package off in April. She told me that AFPC got my stuff back from the VA on the 16th. She also said it has been taking them a month to a month and half to do the turn around. The VA told me they sent it on the 24th of June. Maybe there is a two-three delay but idk. So basically I feel you jazz, not as bad. But the waiting knowing it could happen anyday is killing my sleep since I work night shift. I wake up and look at my phone every hour thinking I missed a call. Why does it not surpise me they would screw up your orders Vgwillm.

Sorry for the delay Jazz, been going crazy getting orders situated. Anyway I bugged the PEB daily and had them call AFPC to get a hard date that they would finish my paperwork by. So from they receiving the results to the call was around 2 weeks but that was me forcing the issue.

When I get home tonight I will post a new case time line for everyone with all my dates as well as things that have delayed/helped my case.

Thanks for all of your info! I saw your timeline post and finally decided to take matters into my own hands. I called afpc and told them my situation, and the lady I spoke to said that I should be hearing something next week. Hopefully that means more than my PEBLO telling me the same thing for the past month, haha! Fingers are definitely crossed.....

I'm not sure whether I should be relieved or livid. After not hearing anything back from my PEBLO, I finally got the Patient Advocate involved. Magically, I find out that my package was one of the ones indeed that had missing VA paperwork. This is after I had verified time and time again with my PEBLO that AFPC had ALL of the required documentation (I read the post about the numerous VA packages getting lost). She assured me every single time that AFPC had everything they needed and that I was good to go.

I found out not 30 minutes ago that AFPC received the required VA documentation YESTERDAY. This is after a month and a half of my PEBLO telling me that I should be getting the phone call "in about a week". My patient advocate also spoke with my case manager who told him that they should be finished with my package anywhere from a couple of days to about a week, and to engage with him directly if I dont hear anything by next Thursday. To all of you reading this: CONTACT YOUR PATIENT ADVOCATE IF YOU ARE GETTING THE RUN AROUND LIKE ME! He called me back within two hours of me contacting him. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I hear something soon...I'm going on day 359 (they should just throw the 295 day timeline pamphlet out the window, lol). Here is my updated timeline:

22 Aug 11 - Met with PEBLO / Initiate MEB
01 Sep thru 20 Oct 11 - C&P Exams
15 Dec 11 - NARSUM sent to MEB
05 Jan 12 - Commander's letter sent to MEB
20 Jan 12 - MEB found Unfit...referred to IPEB
24 Jan 12 - IPEB received MEB package
05 Jun 12 - VA Proposed ratings sent to AFPC
07 Jun 12 - TOLD that AFPC received proposed ratings
06 Jul 12 - Checked in with PEBLO...said I should hear something in a week. Also verified that AFPC had all required VA documentation. Was told I was good to go
13 Jul 12 - Checked in with PEBLO...said I should hear something in a week. Also verified that AFPC had all required VA documentation. Was told I was good to go
20 Jul 12 - Checked in with PEBLO...said I should give it two more weeks. Also verified that AFPC had all required VA documentation. Was told I was good to go. Ordered by CC to stop calling my PEBLO for updates.
14 Aug 12 - Called PEBLO for update. No new information, and seemed irritated to hear from me. Contacted patient advocate, and explained to him my entire MEB expierence. He replied by letting me know that AFPC ACTUALLY received my required documentation yesterday.

Almost forgot: 08 Aug 12 - Called AFPC. They informed me that I would hear something by 17 August.

As firedawg stated, that's her JOB - My PEBLO(s) yes plural since they've both called me on occasions, have heard nothing but an ear full from me on several occasions, I've been respectful towards them and often the case, I've diligently apologized to them before, during, and after my heated exchange over the telephone or in person. I told them several times, I KNOW it's not their fault in my situation, and that it's just their the most "educated to my case" individuals, and by being the messenger sometimes they're put in the position of being the only person I can come to, to find out answers. When they haven't got any, it gets you upset as the service member. They've been very understanding and have often told me Mr. Snuffy don't worry about it, we know, and your CC is a #%(^@$$, so they get it, but unfortunately like everything else, you're going to find there are good ones and bad ones. I'm sorry for your situation, and I would go to the Patient Advocate or IG. ALSO be aware though, the current MEB process is very slow, and not a single thing is being done to expedite this process, as most people agree if it were made to be faster, you'd have a lot of individuals falling through the cracks in the name of streamlined processing. Or worse, double up the numbers of folks seeking out the Formal Board instead of the IPEB. Love it or Hate it, the system is what it is for a reason, it's just our timing is good/bad at the same time. I say good because, we are at least afforded the IDES opportunity versus those stuck in "legacy" system and still awaiting determinations on their cases long after they're service time is up.

my 2 cents,

Sorry to hear that Vgwillm,

A couple of corrections though, yes it sucks but your CC does NOT have to approve your Permissive TDY for house hunting. Also, this HH is restricted to 20 days not 30. I am currently in a very similar situation, my CC didn't agree with my SrA retirement rank, and SAF was ordered to re-assess their previous decision. Ultimately on Friday last week (10 Aug 12) the demotion authority restored my grade and rank to SrA and now the SAF has been informed to cease the re-assessment. NOW, I'm waiting for Finance, and all other functions to update me in the system to the right rank again so I can THEN get my orders. I signed my forms from IPEB on like 6 June or so. I've been waiting on orders for a very long time. Here's hoping something happens in the next 2 weeks or so. THEN I still have to go to the CC yet again to ask for my PTDY. I'm just waiting it out and not taking any leave, in case he denies this PTDY, so I can still go HH (over 900 miles away).

**Edit**
After reading my reply and thinking about it, your situation may be 30 days due to being in an OCONUS location, not sure on how that works coming from Hawaii.
