Discussed being sent up for a board mainly due to mental health issues resulting from experiences while active duty. Have also had 3 major surgeries in 2025 to help fix some chronic pain. Agreed to it with the understanding of taking the legacy route to help remove me from active duty ASAP so I can start recovery and get away from the source of it all (yes it's that bad, and yes I understand it means dealing with the VA on my own once separated). Originally my separation date was going to be May 10th, but when I applied I was denied due to the code 37. I now have no idea when I'm getting out - which of course is making my anxiety and hopelessness feel that much worse. Here's my timeline so far:

Nov 19th – Physical Medical Review (AMRO)
December 10th – Psych Board Review (AMRO)
December 16th - First contact with PEBLO
December 18th – Paperwork Submitted to PEBLO
January 22nd – MHNARSUM submitted after personal advocating and discussion with Psychiatrist
January 28th – Case submitted to AFPC, pending FL4
February 2nd-March 8th - Continuous checking in with PEBLO on status (probably being the biggest pain in the rear), only being told the same general thing of "Your case was submitted Jan 28th and is pending adjudication".
March 10th - Case sent back with request rom AFPC for Physical NARSUM with suspense date of March 20.

Definitely gotten leadership involved as well as my first shirt because I've had too many experiences with the AF losing track of me (and others), and letting them take their time will just result in me being kept in the very environment causing/worsening the mental health issues. Will update when I can.

I am curious to see how your requested suspense is taken. Please keep this post updated and good luck!

Yeah, that suspense date part is what would stress me out the most too—it’s like everything suddenly depends on how fast that one piece gets turned around. Hopefully your medical team actually takes that March 20 deadline seriously and doesn’t let it drag. You’ve already done a ton just staying on top of it and advocating for yourself, especially with everything else going on. Definitely keep pushing your PEBLO for updates around that date—sometimes that extra pressure really does make a difference.

So you got your case back from AFPC? Mine was submitted on Feb 4th and I still haven’t heard back. I heard they were only working on Jan 25th cases as of yesterday. What did you do to get yours processed faster?

My PEBLO said that they received 2 cases back yesterday (18 March) that were dated 24 January. Mine was submit to AFPC on 18 February so I am hoping to hear something before the end of the month. I am trying to get out as soon as possible.

I don't know if I did anything to make it move faster, but it may have to do with me being more of a Mental Health case? Not sure. I will say the whole point of me agreeing to go through this was to separate earlier and now it's causing me to be trapped in the very thing causing these issues.

Update -

PEBLO stopped by my PCM's office to check on the status of the NARSUM and apparently my PCM is out of the office until next week.
1st shirt reached out to the med group's 1st shirt and basically couldn't get anymore information than we already have. My two main concerns right now are A) how long it will take to get this NARSUM written and B) How long it will take for a conclusion if/when I am sent to a med board.

Update from today. Went with my secondary supervisor to the clinic, and her being there helped me to get some answers from my PCM. Instead of having to wait until April 17th for an appointment, she gave the front desk permission to schedule me an earlier appointment. Got one for next Tuesday (the 31st), and I plan on asking her to please send it up by COB that same day, or NLT COB the next day.

Informed my PEBLO about it, also asked if there was any kind of label or something that could be placed on my file to expedite my case. Apparently she can only do it if I have an impending DOS - which I don't since I was denied - or that MH could write a memo for it to take priority. She also told me that "...your case was already assigned to a provider so they’re waiting for you case to return.". Not sure what this means for my timeline but still seriously considering writing to a congressman so I don't end up starting terminal leave after my original separation date at minimum, if not separated by that point.

Small update:

Met with my PCM on March 31st. She said she has to meet with the AMRO here to discuss my NARSUM, and once she has the thumbs up she'll send it back to AFPC. I'm still waiting to hear from my PEBLO that they've received it. Very anxious about it getting sent back up so I can be closer to moving on.
