Advice on IDES process with pergnant service memeber

I was 8 months pregnant when I began the med board process officially in Sep 13. It was business as usual. I met with the MSC and with my PEBLO and signed the initial paperwork. I had my baby in Oct 13 and it was free of complications. My NARSUM came back while I was on maternity leave. My PEBLO called and I just drove up to the base and signed it. When I returned to work I had already been found unfit, I was just waiting on VA ratings and the call from the PEBLO (...and still waiting).
It is my understanding that if you deliver free of complications, it doesn't really change the process at all. Now, had I had some major complications (i.e. blood loss, surgery, etc) this may have changed the process as there would be new medical evidence. If you have a healthy delivery, there should be no issues. I didn't have any issues.

Thank you. I had my 1st VA appointment yesterday for PTSD is one of the unfitting conditions they sent me up on the med board for as well as the other conditions I am claiming I was seeing for yesterday as well for lower back, varicose veins, hip, knee issues, and I got an eye appointment scheduled this week and my other condition that is on my PEB ankle instability evaluation next week. I was just worried about how it works, know one had ever had a case like mine with me being pregnant. I'm not due till late May early June and so far my pregnancy has been healthy. Although when I was at my VA appointment yesterday the doctor did inform me that I may have a heart murmur and suggested I get it checked out by my PCM, which is something I hadn't been told before he said it could just be because I"m pregnant, but told me to get it checked out.

Yeah it was entirely business as usual for me. Nothing special happened. The only thing my PEBLO said was that if I have a very difficult birth, I may have to temporarily delay the process. I assume this is because it would be new medical information that would go on the NARSUM. But I had a healthy birth and it was just the same as a regular med board. I called my PEBLO after I had my son to let her know that all went well and she sent my info to the PEB. I would suggest that you do the same. Just call your PEBLO or email and let him/her know that all went well and you are ready to roll.

i was curious how this process works if the service member is pregnant?

My case was a little different. I got pregnant midway through the process and got word that I would be retired the week I was due. The PEB authorized waiting to submit the 199 and ultimately I submitted a Memo (no format but on official letter head) describing the situation and a DA 4187-1-R signed by my COL requesting that Transproc extend my retirment date based on extenuating circumstances. It just got approved this morning and I'll be having my baby on active duty along with maternity leave before having to up an move myself to the otherside of the country! Outside the very end, it was business as usual.
