Advancement while on med board?

Is it possible to get advanced while you're on your med board? Like is that a thing?

Yes, absolutely. They cannot hold the fact that you're on a medical board against you. Case in point: My buddy is on a board and got selected for SSgt. In the Marine Corps, SSgt is a pretty competitive rank to get, especially in his MOS field.

I know in the AF you can be promoted while going through an MEB.

Preach. I was thinking that they aren't allowed to discriminate against the fact that you're on a med board but everyone at my command I ask says it doesn't happen. I'll see soon, I guess.

Yes, you can get promoted. Also if you are on the promotion list and have not been promoted you can get promoted on your last day of service. S1 still has to cut the orders, it is not automatic.
