So you actually received your final decision from the Army? I wouldn't think it should take that long since its on the down side of things notifying VA and DFAS.

Your orders should have been in there. And they don't need the orders to enroll you in DEERS. They just need the memorandum signed but the Secretary of the Army showing retirement
I did receive my final decision from the Army. DFAS has had my file since 20 June so I am hopeful to receive my back pay this month. I don't know about the VA.

I have spoken to DFAS on numerous occasions. I call every 3 days to check in the status and for the most part everyone has been happy to help. They are the ones that told me when they received my file. I am truly hoping to have my funds by the end of the week. We shall see.

no are you speaking of retirement services office? I just got back from our DEERS office here on Ft. Gordon and the rep I saw tried to use the paperwork/packet I received to enroll me in DEERS and couldn't they actually need orders or something stating that I have been place on PDRL with dates so they can scan it in. She also tried by calling higher up and they said the same. Im desperately trying to speed up the process for my daughters sake who I would like to get TRICARE as soon as possible due to Asthma.
Do you not have the memorandum that says what you are eligible for? If you do the one that says tricare and ID card specifically states "just provide this letter for enrollment". I just got mine done last week and that is what I used. And yes, the retirement services office. You must complete you survivor benefit plan paperwork as quickly as possible if you anticipate receiving back pay from DFAS as this is how they get your direct deposit information, tax withholdings, and your SBP elections.
nope I received a ARBA letter head signed by the deputy assistant of the Secretary of the Army and it states they accepted the recommendation for the PDBR. It also states that " the re-characterization of your speration as a disability retirement will result adjustment to your pay the original date of separation minus severance pay. The accepted DOD PDBR recommendation as been forwarded to the APDA for required corrective actions of records and then to DFAS. The other two pages are the finding results from the pdbr
My packet was about 25 pages. I wonder why yours isn't like mine? but mine had been done for several months before I knew about it so a lot of that stuff got completed prior to me receiving any paperwork. So you will contact the base you separated from and talk to the person who cuts orders. That base will be the ones reissuing your orders. got the official packet today and ID Cards... just wondering about the updated DD214; I have my SBP appt next week at the RSO I'm thinking that's when it will get updated to reflect ret.
You'll need to send your orders to who did your original DD214 and they will submit a DD215 to have it corrected and you will get a new one mailed. My base said it would take several weeks.

Welp, I had my RSO brief today and found out that (and she didnt sound too sure) if you receive back pay and were getting a VA benefit they will take that in consideration. So that not only will they recoup the severance but will also take or give the difference between the two... Is there anyone on here who has already received their back pay that can add to this?
I will be getting mine any day. And she is correct. The military disability retirement counts dollar for dollar with VA disability compensation. So if your VA disability pay was lower than your now medical retirement pay, you get the difference. If the VA has been paying you more then you don't get anything extra. With the exception of CRSC and CRDP. Which I do not fall into either of those so can't speak on them.
ok, so basically I was placed on TRDL from 2003 to 2008 percentage dropped to 20% VA picked me up at 40% so I will probably wont receive anything since Im retired at 40% and still will have to owe the remaining 21k from my balance on the severance...

when did the VA start paying you? And your severance should have started getting recouped from your VA payments. Have you asked VA if they recouped it?

I started with VA a yr out as well but they didnt recoup right away and i didnt know. One day when I placed a claim that's when they notified me back in 2012
