Additional Diagnosis During MEB??

I'm going through the MEB process for a pulmonary embolism I had 6 months ago. I completed my C&P last week, to include the psych portion. During the psych portion my anxiety got the best of me, I basically froze and was unable to articulate how anxiety and depression affect my life. Hopefully, the doctor will look through my previous notes to get a clearer picture.

Lastly, the VA Rep told me to ask my doctor about fibromyalgia because many of the other diagnosis I have point to that. My question is if I do get diagnoses with fibromyalgia, how will that affect my VA Claim and the MEB Process.

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked.

My understanding is it is possible to add claims during an MEB but it will slow down the process. For time's sake, it has be advised to keep going to doctor then file additional claims day 1 out of the service.

If you believe that the new diagnosis is one that will be included in an unfitting decision it may be in your best interest to ensure that it is added and reviewed by the PEB. If time is more important to you than the monetary outcome it would be best to hold off till 1 day after your EAS as previously indicated.

If this new diagnosis is unfitting as well, it could result in 1. a retirement instead of separation (if your current diagnosis is 20% or less DoD) or 2. a higher rate of retirement (assume 30% with the current injury, and a new diagnosis that is also 30%, and you would retire at 50% pay vs 30% pay).

This is exactly my current situation. I am currently working on getting a confirmed diagnosis for fibromyalgia (my PCM gave me the diagnosis, but for the VA it has to come from a rheumatologist). I also did an MSLT which provided strong evidence for a diagnosis of narcolepsy. I transferred commands and in 2015 I had another MSLT that did not rule out narcolepsy, but presented a stronger case for hypersomnia. Good thing for me they are rated the same by the VA. In order to make the diagnosis more current, I am trying to get in with a sleep doctor to reconfirm the narcolepsy/hypersomnia. That appointment isn't until April 2020. My C&P exams are next week, so I may have to end up adding the fibromyalgia and narcolepsy/hypersomnia diagnosis after the MED concludes. My disability attorney says to just continue going to my appointments and we can have an IMR done or do a rebuttal to the MEB results. I know both of these conditions are unfitting and would probably be rated on in my favor along with the MDD/PTSD/GAD that I am being referred for initially. I am also trying to get migraines added as a referred condition because of their severity and how they keep me out of work. Thoughts anyone? Has anyone had additional diagnosis added during this process successfully?
