90 Days Question

So once I get my NLT date, can I just clear post and final out whenever within those 90 days? Im just trying to sell my leave, get my severance check and be done. I’m not sure though if that’s possible.

Procedures for separation vary by service. Stating your service will get you better feedback.

Hopefully someone with recent Army AD experience will give you the run down.

I am not sure if they will let you retire/separate prior to the NLT date without using leave until that date (I was AD Army). Check with the separation/retirement section at your installation.

I stayed on AD until the last day possible. I was not moving and did not have a job lined up and my unit had forgotten about me so I was no longer showing up for work. I was "at SFL-TAP" if anyone wanted to know. I cashed in 60 days of leave. Yes, you only get your basic pay for cashing in your leave, but I received all my entitlements (BAH, BAS, etc) until the absolute last day possible on AD and THEN received and additional 60 days of pay. So if you choose to use your leave during your 90 day window, you are essentially missing out on extra money on the backside.

If you have a job lined up, then it probably is worth it to go on (terminal) leave during this window so you can collect two paychecks. It just depends on your situation on whether you have lease expiring; buy, sell, rent a house, move, job lined up, etc.
