Friends,
I hit 21 active duty years soon and have a number of conditions. I'm debating on seeking a MEB but would like some advice.
Here are the major things that I'm struggling with (all are documented) from 3 x combat tours (OIF 2004, OEF 2010 & 2013):
- Mild TBI producing memory loss, depression, and slower mental processing, severe concentration issues, occasional headaches
- PTSD and anxiety (combat related)
- Insomnia (not sure if this would fall under PTSD)
- Sleep Apnea (using CPAP machine nightly)
- SLAP tear surgery in right shoulder, surgery went OK but advised my days of push ups are over
- bilateral knee issues, currently walk the APFT
- Barrett's Esophagus
- Tinnitus in both ears (IED related)
Due to all the above, my performance evaluations have been up and down and I'm sadly performing well below my peers. Having looked at my conditions, would a MEB be something I could initiate?
Also, what happens if the DoD rates me at 50% but my retirement is at 60% (if I make it that long)? The calculator below doesn't work very well if you're over 20 but perhaps I'm using it wrong:

Advice and input are appreciated; thanks!
