Good evening looking for some help. So I am on my 1st Limdu which ends 01FEB22. I will have 2nd surgery to repair what I am on LIMDU. I have been real stressed out of late and I went to mental. They diagnosed me with adjustment disorder with depression and anxiety. I really wanna make it to 20 years, my 2nd will take me to July I currently have 82.5 days of leave. I am hoping for the best, hopefully going mental health won’t hurt me any suggestions

With that amount of Leave and how long IDES is if you want to stretch it out you should be fine. However, I suggest that you focus on your mental health and if you get pushed into a corner and go to IDES read other posts here on how to delay to get you to 20 years. Also, if you are barely hanging on I would drop my retirement packet as soon as eligible. That may sway them to just support you until you can get to regular retirement.

I am in the Navy they are saying I can’t submit since I am on limdu, my enlisted community manager is saying I need to PCS then submit retirement basically trying to force me to do 22 years. Also thank for your reply

Thanks for the additional information! I'm not as informed for limbu since my background is army. Yeah I definitely wouldn't do it that way then. Just try to stick it out till you hit 20 years and you can always prolong the process if they do try to medboard you.

So, I was around the same time frame boat you were in. The best thing I could tell you is do you have a safety net when you get out or is these conditions going to affect your life forever.

If yes, push for a MEB/PEB The instruction on med boards would help you. They are going to have to take care of you and your med board will make it to 20 years if you get placed towards the end of the year. Like August/September.

If not then just keep on keeping on. The mental health appointments are not a bad thing for you or the outside world.

Veterans get a lot of protections now.

But it really depends on what level you're at.

When that close to a regular retirement you try to get it because then the MEB isn't needed. If you hit 20 years you get CRDP so the compensation isn't any better than medically retiring when it comes to income.
