I was separated in 2002 due to use of immunosuppressive drugs to treat psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis. I requested a permanent profile and my commander sent a supporting letter in with my doctor's letter saying I could continue performing (I was a 74G30 - Information Technology). The doctor's letter included use of Imuran and that was the trigger. I had an Medical Duty Review Board (MRDB) where I was chosen to be separated for use of immunosuppressive drugs.
I received a 15 year letter (barely made 15) and my discharge orders reason: Disability Retired. Assigned to USAR Control Group (RETIRED). Honorable discharge.
I have been digging into several things with my separation (Sep 11, 2017 makes my 16th year since my notice came). I keep reading where people's records in my situation (National Guard separated with 15 years) are sent to a PEB where they are assigned a disability rating.
Questions:
1) My records were never sent to a PEB (This might have been before PEBs maybe). Should my records have been reviewed and assigned a percentage for being disabled? (See above: Disability Retired)
2) If so, what steps do I need to take to resolve this?
3) When I received my packet to be separated, I was given a choice of a) having the MRDB case terminated and take Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) or; refuse TERA and allow the MRDB to go forward to National Guard Bureau. I selected the later, but noted that if it was decided to separate me, I want TERA. My packet was never sent to NGB and it should have been. What recourse would I expect if I were to address this?
Has anyone had an early 15 year LOE with a disability rating assigned that is guard and at least 15 years ago?
