PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNS VA'S ADVANCE FUNDING BILL -- 10-23-2009

Seems to me if they couldn't forecast one year out, asking them to go two years out won't make much of a difference. Feel like I'm stating the obvious, but it's what I gathered from this. Mayby a GI Bill for medical is order....go find whatever care you need, and if you are eligible in the first...

    Help with ROM Test Results

Hi, Looks like your forward flexion would, barring any other evidence, reflect a rating of 20% for your back. You can find the rest of the the joints defined here : Joints (Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Hip, Knee, and Ankle) Examination (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) Most of the numbers...

SOME VETS HAVING TROUBLE CASHING VA'S EMERGENCY CHECKS -- 10-05-2009

I went directly through the VA's website,...the check is a regular Treasury check that has no problems getting cashed. I live in the middle of no-where, so traveling to one of the VA direct sites wasn't really an option. The website was easy and fast. Leave it to the government to goober up...

    What to expect

It me again Margret! Hey fellas, what can I expect at my first VA hospital appointment after medical retirement? I have one on the 9th and one on the 20th,...I am wondering how many hoops will I have to jump through? Is it a total lube order or just an oil check? Do they redo everything the Army...

STAFF PSYCHIATRISTS IN REVOLT AT SPOKANE VA -- 08-14-2009

I don't care if the true number is 500 or 650 or 850....all of those seem WAY high for a single Doctor to be trying to treat. How could a person expect to give any kind of decent care at those numbers? Seems like it would turn in to a generic "Hihowareyouhaveaniceday" here's your happy pills...

    Pubis symphysis

Fellow Lawndart, Please let me first say, OUCH MAN,...that sounds like it just hurts in so many ways. I can imagine that your pelvis is the pivot point through which EVERYTHING you do goes through and you need to get that healed/fixed/mojoed, etc. Take care of yourself and be your own...

SHINSEKI WANTS TO "TEACH RESILIENCE" TO PTSD -- 08-06-2009

Is this kinda like when he suggested if we all wore Ranger black berets we would all "feel" all warm and Rangery, and thus improve our morale? This guy is brilliant!

How much longer!!! I have DDD just one issue

You know your position best, but I would say its almost always best to wait it out and finish the MEB/PEB before getting out in the long run. You stand to gain quite a bit in benefits if they find in your favor, and would for SURE get nothing if you walked away. You have to take care of your...

Army orders use of term "behavioral health"

Going to have to agree with George (RIP). Changing the name or location of the doc isn't going to fix anything unless there is an underlying shift in attitudes.

I may be out of the net for a few days.....

Are you sure this isn't a clever ploy for time off, or perhaps an attempt to garner sympathy? I'm just saying, cuz I've heard Joe will do that,....let a surgeon saw on him and all for some free R & R, you know how it goes. :D:D:D Next thing you know, Jason will be asking for every Federal...

    Need help quick!!!

Cetoway, Welcome, and sorry to hear about your situation. Need some more information first. What kind of supporting evidence went in to your MEB? I don't know much about knees, but for the back, the single most important factors seem to be a range of motion test, and periods of incapacitation...

Concurrent receipt pay hike for over 100K vets!

If this flies (and I have my doubts, but would LOVE to be proven wrong), I won't regret getting out four years shy of a full twenty as much as I do right now. I wonder quite a bit whether I could have figured out an honorable way to gut it out without taking advantage of the system. It also...

    Introduce yourself

Welcome Viking! I can tell you my experience has been very much the same. There is no worse situation then being in a "he-man" culture and not being able to flex muscles and run like a deer. I was pretty bent for a while about the whole thing, and I've let it ruin more then one day for me. I...

FORMER MARINE FEELS "GREAT" FOLLOWING HAND TRANSPLANT -- 04-03-2009

If you think about it, that tops Star Wars even,....they had to use a robo-hand for old Luke Skywalker,...this kid gets a fully functioning, real deal hand. That's pretty slick if you ask me. I have a pretty ugly melon, so there's hope for me!

    Pay-for-Performance Goes on the Defensive

If their rating system is anything like the NCOER/OER system, I wouldn't see how this could ever be perceived as an improvement. There just isn't a way to eliminate the bias, either for or against, that comes with these things. Just my two devauled coins of highly suspect metal content.
