    Preparing for FPEB

Well, that's it. I am done. The VA came back and said that I was 10% for my unfitting condition and 10% for each of two other things. So the navy will be separating me with severence instead of retirement. I am tired of fighting and just want to move on. At least I will be 30% at the VA so...

    Preparing for FPEB

Hi all, just wanted to provide an update: Got my 0% rating from the Pilot Program on 19 September, looked at the paperwark and saw some inconsistencies, so I wrote a nice letter to the Rating Office asking them to look at it again and see things from my POV. The nex two months consisted of...

Finally Have A Formal Board Date!

Wear the Dress Uniform. You can always dress up, and it isn't worth the argument with an O-6 PEB member over what the actual Uniform of the Day is vs what the Captain/Colonel is expecting to see you in. I know it is a bit of a redass, but better safe than sorry. T

    Preparing for FPEB

As it turns out, the 0% was my rating from the VA for my unfitting condition. Completely in conflict with what the VASRD says. Typical.

    Jason--I need your help!

I just got my results package. Navy recommended Unfit at 0% and the VA rated me at 20%, 10 for carpal tunnel and 10 for a two year old heart attack. My primary issue, hypercoaguable state requiring lifelong anticoagulation therapy resulting from Pulmonary embolism, was rated by the VA at 0%...

    Preparing for FPEB

So, I got the results of my formal today, sort of. The PEBLO said that my findings came in and I was rated Unfit, with 0% disability, to which I replied "The VA rated me at 0%?" No, he said, the Navy rated you at 0%. But, I replied, I am a pilot case, I thought the Navy didn't rate me at...

Does anyone know when the PEB Board Meets?

Dude, be prepared for the possibility of a long wait. I don't want to freak you out, but I have been going through a board for a year. (First MEB appointment AUG 07). Good luck and i hope it all goes well. T

Any here apart of the new DOD/VA pilot program??

You can pretty much throw the timeline that they give you out the window. My experience: Aug 2007: Made Appointments for MEB evaluation near end of 2nd LIMDU Sep 2007: "We are going to run more tests in a month" Nov 2007: Tests complete, awaiting results of MEB Jan 2008: Call to PEBLO office to...

Jason, Is it just me or have I been reading a lot of posts regarding MEB and PEB shenanigans...

Jason, Is it just me or have I been reading a lot of posts regarding MEB and PEB shenanigans when it comes to patients on coumadin? Every medical doctor I have spoken to has said that the drug is entirely incompatible with military service and yet I am seeing reports (mine included) of fit...

Well, i am awaiting the results of my Formal PEB. Apparently they notifiy you within 6 weeks via certified mail. It sounds like you are a bit worse off than me medically. I had an MI followed by a PE which is why I am on the coumadin. The best advice I can give is to make sure that your docs...

    Advice for Pilot Program

Mandy-- Be prepared for a long fight. I am an NFO at a desk job who is also on lifelong anti-coag and was found fit by the IPEB because I could do my desk job. Make sure that your BFs NMA doesn't paint him as a JO superstar like mine did. No one wants to write anything bad about someone...

    Preparing for FPEB

Well, I had my formal hearing. It seemed to go reasonably well. I think that I presented a strong case and that the evidence is in my favor. Now I just have to sit around for six weeks waiting for the result.....

    Preparing for FPEB

Jason, Thanks for the info. As it stands, I am trying to figure out whether the gag order came from the top of my chain of command or from the chief of staff (who is out this week). At issue as well is the fact that the supervisor in question is a civilian. I figue that in a worst case...

    Preparing for FPEB

Good lord. My former supervisor just told me that she wasn't being permitted to do a letter because the front office decided that the admiral would do one letter that would stand for the whole command. Every step of the way I am getting kicked in the nuts...

    Preparing for FPEB

So I spoke to the JAG today and he said that the board will evaluate my fitness based on whether I can do a job that an officer with my rank and time in service should be doing. In my situation, I should be going to sea. Since I can't go to sea, shouldn't that be a no brainer? Are they really...

    Preparing for FPEB

Yes, You can always challenge the findings of the IPEB with an FPEB, whether you are found fit or unfit. It took about two months from when my package was sent over to the PEB. According to the paperwork they gave me, the board met in early April, and the next 7 weeks was just sitting and...
