    Type 1 and TDRL

Good point. My leadership was very well intentioned from the beginning, but I am currently trying to fix what I started by making myself appear much more healthy than I am.

    Type 1 and TDRL

Looking at table 3.1. Of AFI 36-3212, section F, TDRL is only for if an issue "may be permanent". That doesn't make sense with type 1 diabetes.

    Type 1 and TDRL

http://boards.law.af.mil/AF/PDBR/CY2012/PD2012-00153.docx Hope this link works. My PEBLO recommended I look into TDRL, which appears to be a terrible idea.

Thanks! I was originally told I would have ratings before the package was sent to Randolph, but it now sounds like that might not be the case.

Wow, thanks for the great info. Definitely helps with seeing how it would be best to move forward.

Perfect, thanks. I assume the ratings could be available to me within a month or so of the VA appointments.

Hello! I had previously posted some info on my Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis. Yesterday I met with the PEBLO Office and was told I was placed into the IDES and was starting the MEB process after being found unfit for duty from the DAWG. From my understanding, I will start the VA examinations...

    Unfit

Yesterday was the first time I met the PEBLO workers. The DAWG here on base going me unfit due to needing insulin, so the MEB is just starting. I haven't even met with the VA yet.

    Unfit

I wish I knew :(. My PEBLO told me my MEB would start in 4-5 months, and I got a call out of nowhere last week stating I was unfit for duty and would meet a MEB. If you can, link me to the website you are checking and I will see what it says for me. Good luck!

    New Type 1

It sounds like I talk with the VA next month. I have all the symptoms I initially had documented, and the Flight Doctor casually keeps telling me not to worry because I will be retired or able to stay in. Thanks to your website, I now see how this is far from a guarantee. The process makes no...

    New Type 1

Wow. The entire PEBLO Office are GS employees. The person assigned to my case is a 5, and the person who runs the office is a 7. I now have a narrative summary and letter from my leadership pushing to keep me in until retirement, and it looks like it might be time to head in a different...

    New Type 1

Thank you! This is very helpful. While I was in bad shape in the ICU back in April, it almost appears as if I am being punished for taking care of myself. From my understanding, there was a possibility I could stay in until retirement and then get a normal retirement plus any disability. The...

    CC Letter

That makes a lot of sense. It sounds like my PEBLO Office might have been a bit misinformed with how that process works. They seemed to be convinced I would be able to finish out my final 4 years until retirement.

Thanks so much, Jason. The PEBLO Office and Airman's Counsel rep I spoke with encouraged me to let the VA doctors know what my symptoms were, and how I have improved. They almost made it seem as if TDRL or LAS were going to be just about the only options for me. After looking into TDRL, it...

    CC Letter

Great idea. My doctor said I was the most motivated patient she ever had, and made a personal recommendation with how she "knew" I would be more than capable to stay in at least until retirement. This should be interesting. I wish there were some statistics where we could see how people in...

    New Type 1

Thanks for the help! I was not tested for antibodies, and still have some insulin production on my own. No burn pit exposure or family history. First visit to the PEBLO Office today, and they are looking to recommend me for TDRL. It seems like my leadership is going all in to get me to be...

Thank you so much for the feedback. First meeting with the PEBLO Office today, and they let me know they were pushing for TDRL before I even came in. The Flight Doc and my endo were more than helpful with stating how I got an excellent on a PT test 2 months after my diagnosis. My boss is...

Mine was just sent up. Obviously the objective here is to keep me in for at least 4 more years so I can retire. Does anyone with any experience have anything I might want to ask my CC to add? Thanks! Memorandum for Record RE: xxx YOS: 15 Years 10 Months Xx. Xx Xx is an outstanding...

    New Type 1

What a great wealth of information here. I was diagnosed when I was not feeling right and my wife thankfully talked me into going to the ER. My A1C was over 600 and I spent a few days in the ICU. When I got back to work, all the older, retired guys wanted to let me know how to maximize my...
