  • I started Humira in Oct 2015. It's worked well. I'm going to retire 1 Sep 16. My skin/meds was documented during my VA appt. Should the affected area be where I've had psoriasis before Humira (head, lower legs, arms, upper thigh, lower back, arms, etc), or should it be what's affected after treatment with Humira (lower leg)? I'll be on Humira less than a yr when I retire (10 months). Should my rating be 30%/60%.
    2. How long does the process take, if the MEB recommends retirement to the PEB, etc. assuming I file appeals etc, could it stretch until spring/summer of 16? Thanks, I need to learn alot, the site is good but it's hard to find certain information (almost too much).
    1. If I am on light treatment, and cream, no humira what are my odds at the MEB? PT scores are fine, I've deployed, and my CC will write a good letter.
Thanks for replyinng. I haven't started Humira, my dermatologist is trying to get me on Otezla because he knows what will happen if I start Humira. Unfortunately the DAWG/PCM have started the MEB process. I go in next week to to talk to him about it. I have a few more questions now.
I saw a post that you were on about Humira and an MEB. I have had psoriasis for about 6-8 years, and I've just been prescribed Humira which kicked off an MEB (I do not have PA). I have 23 years in AD USAF/ Major (prior service), I'm an instructor, I've deployed recently, no issues with pt and I want to stay in. What are my chances of being found fit for duty by the MEB now that I'm on Humira?

From my experience, it's HIGHLY unlikely. In the eyes of the USAF, immunosuppressants are a disqualifying factor for deployments due to the near constant monitoring, increase risk for infection, etc. I was recently found unfit due to immunosuppressant drugs just like Humira, however, I'm on Methotrexate.

The thing that's working in your favor is your time in service, though. Honestly, this process is absolutely insane, and I would never say never. Best of luck!
