No, that makes no difference. You could have been injured stepping on the bus at MEPS (the only requirement is that you are on orders for 30 days or more or injured at drill or AT). If unfit, you should either be retired or receive separation with severance pay.

It sounds like they have already pushed forward with your discharge. Please e-mail at my personal e-mail (jadm71@yahoo.com), provide me the details (copies of paperwork, to include LOD, and discharge notification, preferably scanned) and you unit commanders rank, name, office telephone, and e-mail (if you have it). I will forward this info to the Reserve/NG Coordinator at the Army Physical Disability Agency. Your commander is wrong. If you have a condition that fails retention standards, you have to be put through a MEB. Physical disability processing takes precedence over non-misconduct discharges. This is covered in AR 635-40 and AR 635-200 (it applies to the National Guard, but NGR 635-200 supports this , too. If they try to discharge you, let me know.
