    Lionhef,
Welcome! You certainly have the background to offer help and insight to the folks here. Hope the site is helpful to you, too, in gaining insight on issues with IDES.
Jason, Can VA Caregiver benefits be taken away without due process of law? The VA is sending notices either taking away or reducing benefits without so much as a physical examination. I'm 100% P&T SMC with Aid & Attendance and ours has been reduced by 75% effective immediately although we can appeal. The ramifications are causing our heads to spin.

No, once a benefit is granted, there must be an opportunity to be heard on the matter.

I have not looked at whether there are any "twists" or exceptions dealing with Caregiver program. But, my instinct is that the general rules for all benefits would apply.
hi there. I was medically discharged with 10 years with 20% and sev pay for DM and 60% from the VA. I got 100% IU in about 6 months from the VA afterward. Mr Jason my question is is there a chance for me to get medically retired from the DOD? I am also found disabled by SSDI.
I was put on, and discharged from AD 07/29/2013. (IDES, Med Ret Army @ 40% and VA proposed rating was 70%). My question is regarding with employment (wife and 3 teens) So far, what I have been able to find (employment wise) are jobs related to my field of expertise (aircraft maintenance, flight engineer, technical inspector).
Sir, Jack told me to get in touch withl you about incap pay issues. Can you please let me know the best way to talk to you. Thank you

Hello, I need an example memo request COAD as soon as possible. Also a sample of memo that the commander and 1SG can use requesting me to Continue on Active Duty (COAD). Will someone please help me.
    I need really quick. Thanks
Do you still have a copy of the sample memo for COAD??? you posted on a link but I couldn't open it.
Jason, sorry about the extra posts. HRC told me to call DFAS who told me to call HRC, back and forth. I spent 8 hours on the phone one day, straight through attempting to get clarification from HRC and DFAS, even spoke with HRC AMEDD office and USARC. Cheri
They (3 HCR retirement staff) kept telling me that the reduction in age does not come in to effect unless a 4187 is completed placing me on the retired reserve list & if i elect the 30%PDR/100% VA I would have to wait until i am 60 to receive CRDP? They informed me that the only way i am eligible for the reduction in age is if i waive the AD medical retirement and be placed on the retired reserve list. Cheri
Jason, If i choose the Retiree Reserve list which is what HRC was telling me, I would be paid as a MAJ because the "law" indicates 3 years in that grade & I have been a LTC for 2 years. Cheri

I am stunned at how little HRC knows about the law. You will be paid under % of High-3, which is average of highest 36 mo. of pay. All of this is covered in DoDFMR.
Thanks Jason, the 30% PDR ->$2575 & the VA 100% ->$2975 w/VA higher & one that I will be paid monetarily. my reserve retirement @ ~ 3770 points on retirement is about $2250 as a LTC. Sincerely, Cheri
Jason, I would prefer to "elect" the 30% PDR and 100% VA, hoping that because I qualify for the reduction in age rule, that i would be able to retire medically on AD at age 55 now, instead of having to transfer to the retired reserve list. I appreciate your advise and website.

See my below comments. Based on what you have said, it is almost certainly the case that retirement with 30% PDRL and 100% VA is most advantageous to you (only caveat is I don't know all dollar amounts for each outcome/possible payment, so I can't tell for sure).
Thanks Jason, to clarify, if i elect the 30% PDR & the 100% VA i am eligible for CRDP at age 60? My AD orders ALL qualify for reduction in age which drops my effective age of 60 down to 55. HRC retirement OFC told me that i have to transfer to Retired Reserve list to receive concurrent reserve & 100% VA pay now, but if i elect the 30% PDR & 100% VA i have to wait until age 60 to draw concurrent. Thanks,Cheri

You will be eligible for CRDP at age 55 from what you have stated. I don't understand anything the HRC Officer told you. Seems a complete misunderstanding of law/regs.
I am a USAR LTC w/23good yrs, mob'd in '07 =>OEF in MEB/IDES My question: Can a Reservist retiring with 30% PDR & 100% VA permanent disability be eligible for CRDP & the reduction in age while being medically discharged from active duty. Or would this Soldier have to waive medical retirement & transfer to reserve retirement list in order to receive the reduction in age & CRDP at age 55 years

"Can a Reservist retiring with 30% PDR & 100% VA permanent disability be eligible for CRDP & the reduction in age while being medically discharged from active duty." Yes. But, the CRDP would not take effect until age you would have been retirement eligible.
