    Type 1 Diabetes. FPEB HELP!!!

What kind of limitations do you have?? It's not the case of "the more the better", it's the case of "if you say it's a limitation versus your doctor saying it's a limitation." The doctor on your board doesn't have to be an Endo, but mine was a flight doc.

    Type 1 Diabetes

I got 20%. When I was down there, my council showed me the case where Regulation of activities is "avoidance of strenuous occupational and recreational activities" just like it says in the VASRD. What it doesn't say is that this must be a medical need. Keyword, need. It's not enough to say...

"Regulation of Activites "is now defined!!!

I hope you're right. It does seem next to imposible to get 40% when it's such a gray area. It's either you get 20% or you're fit for duty. My council also said, which I'm paraphrasing, "Diabetes is looked at more of an annoyance then a serious medical condition, especially with someone as...

"Regulation of Activites "is now defined!!!

So I just had my formal hearing. Not much fun. There are problems with the AF side of things, but that's for the AF boards. So anyways, after being assiged my council, he informed me that "Regulation of Activities" are not only the "avoidance of strenuous occupational and recreational...

    IPEB- 19 Weeks and Counting

My package was sent in Aug 15th(ish). It came back Dec 14th, so it shouldn't be that much longer for ya, but with the holidays, I would tack on 3 weeks to play it safe. Dio

New DX of DM type 2

This is what I got from my doc. Type 2 with only 1 oral medication (diabetic specific medication), and still controlled, you can still be in. As soon as you can't control it, or go on two oral meds or start insulin, AF starts you on your way out the door. Dio

Getting Medically Retired due to Diabetes

SWO with Type 1 Diabetes Hello Domlou, Here you state What exactly do you mean from that?? What happens to a person once they get the DX of DM1?? Each service is different, and there is change right now in general of how diabetes is viewed. Army and Marines tend to keep them. Navy tend...

    TDRL

Hello there Mototryph1, First off, what did the Rep from Randolph say?? From what I can gather, it basically comes down to is documentation. 40% is very gray with the wording "Regulation of activities". That is all the book says. So if you have to watch what you do during periods of...

    IPEB Type 1 Diabetes

USAF_Vol, asking because I don't want assume anything, but is your PCM the person you go to for Diabetes issues?? The reason I ask is because on my base, it's not. I still go to my PCM for sick call and any other medications, but for monthly follow ups, ordering supplies, it's all done through...

    PEB for Type 1 Diabetes

Scattered out thoughts here, from several posts. This sounds like a misdiagnosis, but not completely their (the docs) fault depending on how you presented. The healthier you were, the more likely they were to diagnos you had type 2, and probably didn't feel the need to draw blood. At the time...

    What to do about Supervisor?

First, try to adjust your profile with duty days being limited to 8 hours (or 9 with lunch) and at a max of 5 days a week. Extra duty is crap if it is not mission essential and/or you have not recieved an article 15. Any LOC's or LOR's they give you, DO NOT SIGN RIGHT AWAY. No matter how...

    Diabetes and Regulation of Activities

First off, I'm in the same boat. Type 1 onset about 3 weeks ago, was not fun one bit. I found this on another board for type 2, but still can be used for us. Here are the two links. Helpful hint for your Diabetes Claim - Diabetes II - VA Claims Discussions - Veterans Benefits Network -...
