Adjustment Disorder news

Not true. The cases I have had that went on were never contacted. This was done arbitrarily with a sign off by the legal department at the PEB.
So, even if I haven't signed my 199 they can just move forward and do what they want? I have emailed my PEBLO twice in the last week and still no return email. Please advise.

Meanwhile, we are being furloughed , and having our staffing go down by 2/3 due to Term PEBLOs, Contact Reps and MSAs not being renewed. Thanks a lot Washington DC, which apparently stands for District of Clowns.
I don't know if I can be of help, but I have been writing my Rep's and Sen's here in NC about this. I believe if they helped the FAA with the Controllers then this must rate above that, right? If this is publicized and a media frenzy ensues we might stand a chance. With the backlog the way it is this makes no sense whatsoever and the public should be made aware of the situation. I will be doing my part beginning now. We need you guys right where you are, not at home allowing the backlog to increase. Peace.

Please forward to anyone interested. I just got through sending several letters to both of my Senators, my Congresswoman and three television news channels regarding the furlough and layoffs of the processors trying to keep the backlog at bay. These people should be made aware of this heinous disregard for our veterans much like the FAA debacle which was also wrongly blamed on sequestration. Maybe, just maybe, it will make some kind of difference and help all the soldiers involved in the MEB process. I think you guys are much too important to be left out in the cold. That means the PEBLOS, advocates and soldiers, as well. Thanks for being there for us.

The soldiers who had this happen were already at the PEB pending separation. They had already signed their DA199's when the Adjustment Disorder debacle began. Some who were there were allowed to go forward and have been separated, others had their cases stopped pending the outcome of this issue. I'm not really sure how they chose who would be a return to the MTF and who would be allowed to separate, but I can tell you they never asked me or the soldier anything prior to actioning it. I found it on my own when I looked at the case file in the electronic PEB.

I don't understand what you're talking about exactly. Which cases? Went on where? It's hard for me to piece together what you mean.

Yeah, this thread has gotten pretty long, so if you don't read all 12 pages, you may not be able to track this. We are talking about cases going through the Medical Board process that have/had an adjustment disorder listed as one of their conditions, whether listed as meeting or failing retention standards on the DAForm 3947. Many of these cases had already been uploaded to the PEB and were working through the system, i.e., Fit/Unfit or VA Ratings. Many had already had their cases back from the PEB and had signed off on the DA199.
When the OTSG decided to change the way Adjustment Disorder was going to be characterized, the PEB was told to stop all movement on cases that had that diagnosis. The first thing the PEB did was tell all of the MTF's to stop uploading any case with Adjustment Disorder. The second thing they did was to essentially freeze the progress of cases already at the PEB with that diagnosis. This did/does not stop the adjudication at the VA for ratings. It does, however, mean that when the PEB got the case back from the VA, they stopped the process and said they would continue once the OTSG laid out the new guidance on the whole adjustment disorder thing. In many cases this meant even rescinding separation orders.
SO lately, even though the OTSG hasn't given out the new policy changes, the PEB has apparently arbitrarily started letting some cases proceed all the way through to separation. These were cases already in the system, not newly uploaded because we haven't been allowed to upload cases with adjustment disorder for the last two months.
Does this paint a better picture of the issue?

This has gotten pretty long, hasn't it? Should we begin a new thread on the same subject or just leave this alone?

Oh, I don't know. I think with the summary here, we should be okay. What I'm really hoping for is that this matter gets done and resolved soon so we don't have to keep updating and talking about it!

I was talking about your specific reply to me. Disregard.

Okay, I think I got it. The short answer is, I don't know. I have not had a single soldier, who was given an adjustment disorder diagnosis, get to the DA199 to sign it. All either had already signed and were in the transition phase, or were not uploaded to the PEB in the first place because of the hold, or are currently listed as a "Return to MTF" in the transaction history we see when we get into the electronic PEB. I've not heard any other PEBLO I work with say anything like what you've heard either.

If I have confused anybody with my replies I apologize. I try to aim them at the right people so that my responses come back correctly. OK, so we are waiting for the OTSG memo to be signed and so far some people are going through the system and being processed. Brilliant!!!! I hate the furlough thing and hope that we get some help on that front. I will just maintain my holding pattern and keep circling the runway until I get a call from the tower telling me to sign my 199 and drive on. I pray that we get an answer before too many more are piled up behind us and keep this thread going for another year. LOL. Again, thanks for all you do, PEBLO11 and MaParker. You guys rock. While I was at drill this weekend I told several people about this forum. I hope it sticks and they will remember all the great things I told them about getting real answers from knowledgeable people. We will see said the blind man. Keep up the good work, please.

So what are the odds of someone staying in with adjustment disorder? I was diagnosed with it last week.... Not looking to get MEBd as I have 15 years in.

The diagnosis is not nearly as important as the impact of the condition on your duty performance. If you have relatively minor issues with duty performance, then this should not be a reason to find you unfit.

Is there any authority that we can contact and flood with complaints about this so that they can address this issue apropiate and fast?

The cases that have been uploaded so that means have been rated went to get signed off and stop or those SM who already signed their DA 199 it would be nice to finally seperate after being on hold for about 2 months

Im still waiting as well...i just got this back from my peblo.....

SPC Lewis

Remember I told you - your case is waiting on a DOD policy to come out so

even though your rating is there in typing they can't produce your 199 until

that policy comes out.
