E-Benefits Status Change Today What Next?

E-benefits has finally changed to Pending Decision Approval Phase. What happens next and what does this mean? I was found unfit by the Air Force IPEB on August 20 and I have not received my proposed rating as of yet?

Here is that e-benefits says:
Claim Received: 04/12/2012
Claim Type: Compensation
Estimated Claim Completion Date: 10/27/2012 to 11/23/2012

Next Steps:
Your claim is currently located in our "Rating" phase. We will propose a decision on your claim when all outstanding requirements are satisfied.

It means that your prelim ratings are done and were sent back to PEB, you should be waiting around 60ish days for any further notification. Also keep an eye out in your mail for the prelim ratings to be sent to your address. You're almost done! hopefully they are good ratings!

Grizz,

In roughly 60 days do you think that I will be signing my 199 or will I be completely done and out of the military?

Mines says
claim received 4/19/12
Claim Type: Compensation
Estimated Claim Completion Date: At this time, your Regional Office is unable to provide an estimated completion date for this type of claim

I was found unfit Aug 20 and the VA received my paper work on Aug 24 and I have not received no ratings yet. By the way I am still in the preparation for decision phase.

You should be getting your 199 in 60ish days, it may take longer depending on the typing phase that is why I put the ish on the end.

It means the VA has recieved copies of the C&P exam but not the stuff required from the PEB. You are still in the MEB phase.

Grizz,

One I receive my 199 how many days from there does it take to have seperation orders and when will my unit be notified so I can get the heck out? I just want to be done as soon as possible.

E-Benefits is hit and miss - my case still says pending final decision as of 5 December 11 - and awaiting for new evidence - yet I've been done with the MEB/IPEB portion and VA determinations phases since April 2012 - and decision given and signed compliance in June. I've got my retirement orders, and vacate (retire) from the Air Force on the 28th of October. - It takes a while for them to process everything and attempt to line up their ducks to make sure you only get the barest of minimums!

Klam was that your original claim from your IDES? The VA starts another one once you get out or soon before. They basically go over the same claim and the numbers can end up different but that's the one that counts. The one you signed says something along the lines of a preliminary decision. The new VA claim is currently taking about 88 days to complete, at least through Baltimore. So you will have a closed one and an open one when you look at claim status until the second one is completed.

My first one was opened 5 Dec 11 - my second one was opened 10 April 12 and Closed the next day 11 April 12 or something like that.

Yeah, I have now three closed and I received my first payment this month. Prior to that, after I got out I had one pending, two closed. I never tracked it while I was in so not sure when the others closed. The last one took just over 2 months after I was out.

JBrown58, in the AF, the form 199 is actually Form 356. I didn't know this until I received mine last week.Time from getting the 199 to receiving orders depends upon your base, but I was told that the average right now is 2-3 weeks across the board. And that time starts when you actually sign off on your results, not the day that the 199 comes in. Just hope that when your 356 comes in that it is accurate and you agree with it...otherwise an appeal will drag it out longer.
If you are sure you are separating/retiring, start knocking out your TAP/DTAP classes. At the beginning of your TAP class, and MPF rep will come in and get your info and load your out processing checklist into VMPF. Start working your out processing checklist asap. For me, there are over 80 tasks that I have to get signed off....depending upon your retirement/separation date and the "availability" of all the people that you need to meet with on your checklist, you will be stressed if you wait. One thing that I would recommend that you do right now (while waiting to get into a TAP class) is to print off your records in VMPF (all of it) and bring it into your local MPF and sit down with somebody and go over your awards and decs, deployment frequencies/dates, etc. and make sure everything is correct. They use a system called Mil PDS, and it is shared by the system that populates your DD 214....whatever is in their system is what will reflect on your 214.

USAF Aviator,
I am actually Air Guard and I have been forced to go through the active duty IDES process because my PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression happened when I was on Active Duty. About two years ago I filed a VA cliam and was awarded 50% disability and been collecting the disability for over a year now. With this claim I have added on several other conditions such as sleep apnea, broken wrists, high blood pressure etc. I don't believe that I will have to do any TAP classes and I already have a from Active Duty 214 I beleive that I will get another one from the guard. Have you guys heard of any other guard personnel going through IDES and how long it takes? If a appeal is necessary how much longer does it take?

Copy all. I don't know much about Guard issues, but there are many here that do and I'm sure they will chime in. The one piece of advice I gave that I do know about is the DD 214...make sure that it is completely accurate and up to date, as it is the most important piece of paper you will receive during your military career. Good luck, sorry I can't help with Guard specifics.

USAF Aviator:
I am going through the same thing (AFANG) I was told by the medical administration officer that it would take about 306 days to complete the IPEB. 210 days later VA has rated me at 90%, if estimates are correct I should be done by Dec 2012, I have excellent communication between my PEBLO and medical administration officer and my active duty (36 months) ended in March 2012, the administration officer advised me that I qualified for INCAP pay, you may also qualify for this pay be sure and check this out.
Good Luck Sir!
