Fort Lewis PEB

Hey just a heads up for those going to the seperation briefs at Waller Hall.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM CHECK THE TRANSPROC LIST 10 TIMES BEFORE YOU LEAVE IF THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU AREN'T ON THE LIST!

I went to Waller Hall 4 times to try and get my retirement brief knocked out and they told me "I wasn't on the list". I pitched a fit the last time (yesterday) and told them that HRC and my PEBLO had told me I was on TRANSPROC and if I wasn't on the list they need to call someone. They "checked the list again" and magically I was "finally" on it.

What a joke!

If you talked to that hispanic lady up there, she is very lazy. The person you should talk to is Mr. Griffin, he is the guy that will do his job. Plus he is the boss there! BTW the faster you get the retirement stuff I listed the faster he will cut your orders. ;)

UPDATE:
02 Feb- recommended MEB

Started the process with ombudsman, after getting same answer of any day should have 199...I was infomed from PEBLO of any day since June 29th. Was informed there is backlog at Ft. Lewis but I think that has been the case for some time and was told to wait to mid September before considering any other actions.

So you call the JBLM ombudsman, and they told you that there is a backlog? I was thinking about calling the JBLM ombudsman tomorrow to see what is the hold up. I only have 3 conditions that need to be written up on the DA 199, so what they only have 1 person writing these things. That's crazy!!! You have been waiting way longer than I have, and this week will make 4 weeks since the 199 has been in the typing phase. (Been in "typing phase" since 10 Aug, 2012) I think I will still call and find out exactly where I am in the pile of BS. I understand for those who have 10+ conditions, it might take a min to write that up. However, I only have 3 and the third one came from the VA adding it onto my file so in reality I only had 2 overall conditions. Thanks for the update!!!

I'm not at JBLM but the PEB is the same regardless and the PEBLO's regardless where stationed have no control over this phase expect continuing to email or call the PEB. I only have two conditions, however I have seen fellow Soldiers around my same timeline as mine or even earlier DA199s come back. I am not sure how the system works in that part of deciding which case to work or type at the said dates. I also heard that the PEB had some personal changes which could be causing delay as well.

Yeah it's pretty rediculous that they only have one person on this post to write up the 199 for the whole PEB here... It is waaaaayyyy to big of a work load, my question would be wth will they do if that person dies in an accident or gets really sick?!?!?! PEB goes to even worse shitty situation than what it is now that's what!!!!

Crap! I was found unfit around the 20th of Jun. I guess my "typing phase" is a couple weeks behind you. The wait is killing me.

eagleone, that may not be exactly correct. It is also dependent on the number of claims, you may actually hit the same timeline.

Grizz13,
LOL! Thanks Buddy, but I think that I am going to to dial-down my time-line expectation to get my 199. I have 7-8 DoD claims and my 199 has been in "typing phase" since the 15th of last month. It looks like I am two weeks behind wishingwell and shadow. Maybe, if I tell myself it is going to be 3 more weeks, maybe I won't drive the wife and kids up the wall...

I am really starting to hate the conventional Army for creating this process.

Oh yes, me too... I wonder if I can find any intel out since I have a good connection with someone at the MEB, heard she may move to the PEB soon.

Just talked to my PEBLO. The PEB informed him the current expected wait-time after the packet starts the "typing phase" is currently six weeks. Mine has been in typing-phase for around four-weeks. The packet has been printed and is currently waiting for the PEB's signature(s).

FYI, they started a new stream-lined process and they hadn't expected the increased flow of packets in the typing-phase. JBLM-PEB currently has over 700 packets that they are currently reviewing. Those bubbas are working to get the packets done, but they still need to work on sharing information with the customers.

I hope this helps the JBLM bubbas and bubbetts. Thanks your all of your service.

eagleone,

Got a call from my PEBLO today and they have returned with my results. Timeline below:

Notification of MEB Action - 6 Mar 2012
Physical Exam Completed: 29 Mar 2012
MEB sent to JBLM: 6 Apr 2012
NARSUM Completed: 20 Jun 2012
MEB Doesn't Meet Retention Standards: 27 Jun 2012
NARSUM Signed: 3 Jul 2012
MEB sent to PEB (JBLM): 3 Jul 2012
Found Unfit: 27 Jul 2012
VA received PEB: 31 Jul 2012
eBenefits indicates "Preparing for Decision": 2 Aug 2012
eBenefits indicates "Pending Decision Approval": 3 Aug 2012
Ratings Done: 3 Aug 2012
DA 199 in Typing Phase: 10 Aug 2012
DA 199 is In: 10 Sept 2012

DoD and VA gave a rating of 10%. From what I have read thru my paperwork, I do not qualify for 20% because my flexion is 110 and extention is 0. My ROM is pretty good, which I expected but I am still going to see legal on Wednesday just to make sure everything is everthing. Overall, I good and I am ready to good. PEBLO said coming on the Transproc list and getting orders have been averaging 3-4 weeks.

Was it 10% each or just 0 from DoD and 10% VA?

Thank you for the update! That means I should be less than a week out from my IPEB 199. My PEBLO stated that I am just waiting for a signature from the board.

WishingWell,

Did they do your ROM based on ability or pain? If they didn't concider painful movement ROM, you may want to have them reconcider how the pain affects you. It is usually better for you.

grizz13,

10% DoD and 10% VA.

eagleone,

I didn't have any pain during the ROM testing.

I hope that you are satisfied with what you got, hopefully you can get the VA side bumped up some later.

For the most part YES!!! And most definitely I will be able to bump that VA side up as time goes by.
