I’ve seen lots of post but I’d like to hear from others and their outcomes when a cc said to retain, but you asked not to be retained. I think I have 4 total items in which will be included in my NARSUM. I feel that since I’m a “good worker” have been in awhile and have a lot of experience that my cc sees it as “oh, good to go; they work well and I see no deficits” but, in all reality I’m suffering basically in silence. Aside from medical knowing everything about me, I keep a lot of my ailments to myself and just suffer through the pain.
So long story short, did your cc’s statement of retain reflect vastly different than what your medical team is saying? My med team is pushing for a full MEB.

Mine did not. My command is like a hub for LIMDU people though so they know, or assumingely should know, how this works. I’ve never heard of a command recommend to retain someone.

I would recommend talking to your lawyer and see what they recommend. I think something like a personal statement needs to be done and maybe more from the sounds of this. But see what your lawyer says

Also ask your med team to talk to your commander. They usually respond well to this when they get a reasonable explanation for why you should separate. It would also be in your best interests to take time off when your symptoms are bad rather than suffering. This sends a message.

Thanks for this! My PEBLO actually told me he was going to ask my pcm to call my cc and explain.

I definitely thought it was weird that he recommended retain. But we never have talked so I mean I’m guessing it’s because he has zero idea about me.

The way my CC explained it to me is that his recommendation is based purely on what he sees. He has no access to your medical records and cannot speak to your conditions outside of how you perform in the workplace. That is what the NARSUM is for. He even told me that the commander impact statement has little to no bearing on the decision to retain or not.
