Bipolar Current Timeline

My situation is a little slower than some stories I have read on here. We had issues with the psychiatrist taking two months to type up my medical history, to him being fired weeks later, to the only PEBLO not showing up on my original appointment in July, to her being possibly fired soon as well. So this delayed everything for a total of 3 months. I started seeing mental health in August of 2021. I started seeing the psychiatrist in December of 2021. Originally diagnosed with adjustment disorder, anxiety, and depression until psychiatrist diagnosed me for bipolar type 2.

March 2: Code 37 applied.
April 8: CC Statenebt signed- Do not retain
May 12: Package sent to AFPC
June 10: Notified of full MEB
August 2: Met with PEBLO for initial brief - IDES
August 3: VA called to go over what I will be claiming; migraines, back pain, dermatitis, right ankle, vision, mental health
August 22: MH C&P Exam - was uploaded into TOL 24th with Total Occupational and Social Impairment
August 25: Audiology Exam
September 1: Vision Exam

My mental health exam only listed bipolar type 2 as my only condition but I am assuming that will be ok and not affecting since it was considered a total occupational and social impairment? My (head to toe) exam hasn't been scheduled yet. I called the VA on the 25th of August to ask about it but they said they left a note with the schedules to schedule it so we shall see! I saw some people said they call daily so is that something I should do?

How long after you were told you were being medboarded did you get your code 37? I was told on the 31st I was being referred to MEB but my profile still reflects code 31

On march 2nd I was a code 31 and then the 15th is when it actually reflected the 37. I put the wrong date! February 9 is when I was informed of the psychiatrist pushing the meb button but Another doctor wanted to wait a couple weeks. The 2nd is when my profile for no tdy pcs etc was extended and then it was finally signed on the 15th

More updates:

Dec 12: Notification from AFPC that my package was received
Dec 16: Found unfit. Package forwarded to the VA for ratings

I was told today that they are still waiting for a rater to be assigned my case.

Following for similar condition… did the VA do a very in depth dbq for mental health or let your medical history speak for itself?

Basically let it speak for itself. It was a virtual appointment that took maybe 15-20 minutes. He was like, "this isn't going to be like therapy where I ask you how you are feeling, just tell me what you experience." So I told him a few things that I was experiencing and he checked the "total occupational and social impairment" box.

Update from VA Manager from MSC: "We are currently processing Air Force proposed ratings in about 70 days due to our backlog of work, so I anticipate it’ll probably be another 2-4 weeks before it is completed."

How were you notified that you were found unfit?
I reached out to the military service coordinator. He was able to tell me the date as well. The PEBLO only would say that I was unfit since the initiation of my MEB and I kept telling her ok that is not what I am asking but that's all she would repeat.

how did you get notified it was assigned to a rater
The rep over the phone was able to tell me. Before, my case was still sitting untouched since my last VA appt on November 28 and he was able to tell me that it was opened Feb 6 by a rater and to expect proposed ratings within the next week or two. When I call if my MSC is unavailable, I always ask them to tell me when it last had a note updated to it.

So you just called the regular VA number?

Yes! I’ve heard stories of sometimes it being a hit or miss with who you talk to though because some will say they can’t see but if there’s a note left by a rater, they know

Mine just closed on Feb 25, do you know why your ratings are? Or do we have to wait until we get the letter?
Depending on what happens first, the PEBLO will call and say what your DoD/VA rating is. But if the mail arrives before AFPC finishes their rating, then you'll only know your VA rating from the mail. I haven't got either yet

Apparently my PEBLO said that the letter will go to the PEB, and then they will assign ratings and then my PEBLO will get them and notify me to come sign, she said it usually takes two weeks for the PEB to get them, so here’s hoping it’s sooner than later

Yep! That is when everything is complete with the PEB if you choose to accept the ratings. The letter in the mail will only contain the VA rating I believe. I've seen people get the PEB ratings within days of the VA one once the case is closed so hoping this week for some news!
