Confused about "wording" of DC 7816 Psoriasis

I am just starting the MEB process, actually to even say that is a stretch. My PCM is sitting on my packet right now and I'm waiting for it to be sent to the MTF.

I'm trying to plan my exit strategy, and I would ETS in 14 months if not MEB'd. I'm expecting a 60% for immunosuppressive (Humira), though I just started it. It's common knowledge I'd be on it for life, and I'm waiting for my T3 profile to go P3. What I'm confused about, though, is I don't think I qualify for 60, or even 30 because I *just* started Humira, though I've been trying to treat this for two years.

I would consider myself 40% or more covered in visibile areas but that's *my* opinion..

Any help?

7816 Psoriasis:
More than 40 percent of the entire body or more than 40 percent of exposed areas affected, or; constant or near-constant systemic therapy such as corticosteroids or other immunosuppressive drugs required during the past 12-month period 60
20 to 40 percent of the entire body or 20 to 40 percent of exposed areas affected, or; systemic therapy such as corticosteroids or other immunosuppressive drugs required for a total duration of six weeks or more, but not constantly, during the past 12-month period 30

Sounds like they'd be able to say after a few months if you'll need constant humira or just use during periodic episodes. If they start the meb with the 30% criteria and by the end of the med board the humira is determined to need to be constant you'll be able to submit a VARR with new info so rating is right before you get out.

If they've been at this awhile I'm betting the've used other meds that aren't auto med board like humira but sufficient to establish 60%

One of my good friends came down with a mystery skin illness while deployed and had to be medevac'ed. Several years and specialty doctors later the diagnoses was never figured out, but the VA eventually rated it under psoriasis. He got a camera and documented the affected areas on a daily basis. He then took these photos to his doctors who formally documented the extent of his problems. I believe he took the pictures to his C&P as well.

Whatever the skin illness is, it messed him up pretty bad

Thanks for that info, scoutCC, I'll keep that in mind for later.

YellowHammer, unfortunately I didn't photograph myself until the Humira started working, and it's almost cleared up at this point.

Keep us updated! I'm a fellow sufferer of the P. along with psoriatic arthritis. Been taking Mtx and folic acid. Just went full MEB today.
