Admiral Mullen "Conversation with the Country"

I have not posted in some time (2 years since getting a 20% rating) but wanted to share this. I had the opportunity to attend Admiral Mullen "Conversation with the Country" in Boise Idaho today. I was the first to speak and expressed how disappointed I was to have served 29 years in the...

    Ankle Fusion

When I was at the Intrepid center at Ft Sam I was told that the basic walking leg was a given but anything after that was on a prove you will do then we will provide. The VA has been great to me, I have had a few walking, new ones as the stump shrinks. I have a running leg, a swimming leg(with...

Have you looked at §4.71a Schedule of ratings—musculoskeletal system? The ankle does not fair well in the rating scheme, in other words it does not matter if your ankle does not work. My ankle was stuck at -20 degrees (below neutral) I had lots of pain and had to use crutches all the time. I...

An Opportunity to Offer Solutions to a US Senator Regarding VA Problems

Well I can say one quick thing from a reserve standpoint. If the Army decides you are unfit to continue because of a medical issue that happened during activation to a war zone and you have a 20 year letter they should have to medically retire you at a minimum of 30% nothing less. You should...

QUESTIONS ON SALE OF LEAVE OVER/UNDER 60 DAYS

the 60 day rule is not totality true. I sold back 80 days and had sold back leave before, I was in the National Guard. Some of the rules have changed because of the war. You need to go speak to a smart person at finance.

    100% Permanent and Total ?

As Mas stated if you are 100% P&T it will state that in your letter, you can be rated 100% and not be P&T. Only P&T and IU are eligible for spouse and child education benefits. If you are P&T scheduler you can still work, as your coworker seems to be. People that are unable to work due to...

    Non Retainable - Now what

I have never herd of them giving credit to get to 20 years, I would ask what reg states this will be done. You need to look at the VA schedule and see what your disability is rated at, this is what the PEB should rate you at, but many are rated lower than they should be. As I am sure you have...

There is the million dollar question. I have looked and could not find what the difference between marked and moderate. I feel that ankle problems are way under rated. I wish you the best, please keep posting.

    JASON-Can you help me!

The PEBLO is their to help the Military not the person being boarded! Their goal is to get you out within the time limits. I know this does not seem right but this is the way it is. It is too bad that we are never really told this. It has been stated before that the service member should...

    Help remembering

I was separated after 29 total years of service in Guard but only 15 active, I opted for the retirement at 60 rather than the severance pay. My PEB was for severe central sleep apnea (got 0%) and severe ankle problems (got 20%). The VA rated me at the same 20% for the ankle and of course 50%...

PEB DES pilot program results in: Unfit - 0% disability

I too was a NG with over 20 years, and can relate to the frustration. While I can not help with how to change their minds I just wanted to make sure you know that you do not have to accept severance pay and can opt to receive your retirement pay at age 60. Hang in there.
