    My timeline. Estimated separation??

The IDES process takes its own sweet (or sour as the case may be) time. You could receive ratings, accept them, and get out fairly quickly. You may disagree with the ratings, go through the FPEB, appeal, and spend over a year in the process. The unknown timeline causes folks a lot of stress. If...

    MEB VS. Regular Retirement

IMHO, you should do the MEB. Although most folks will tell you pay will be the same, the risks associated with that pay are different. Whatever disability percentage the DoD awards as unfit may no longer be argued by the VA -- you have it forever both DoD & VA. Additionally, disability pay is...

Should i be speaking to an attorney?

If you include more specific details about your conditions and desired outcome, you may get more pertinent advice. Please do not give up your anonymity if you choose to do this. The thing to do now is educate yourself about the process. I recommend this website and...

    Commander's Impact Letter (Air Force)

The commander's letter should be their observation of you. If they didn't/couldn't see it, it shouldn't be included. A commander would know how many work days you have missed for medical appointments, how many days you have been sent home, if there is/was any change in your job performance, any...

    sleep apnea

https://veterans.perkinslawtalk.com/post/good-secret-change-in-va-sleep-apnea/ https://veterans.perkinslawtalk.com/post/bad-secret-change-to-va-sleep-apnea/ Sounds like the oral appliance qualifies.

    sleep apnea

I thought I read somewhere the oral appliance did not qualify for the 50%. I cannot find a definitive reference now. The "such as" applies to machines that aren't CPAP, such as APAP. If it were me and I had the choice, I would choose a CPAP over an oral appliance for my treatment. If someone...

    sleep apnea

I had to submit the receipt for the CPAP machine to the VA. YMMV.

    AF reserves hypogonadism MEB

I understand your point of view. In a best case scenario reasonable people will agree with you and this will go away. In a worst case scenario they will claim you are hiding what they have "seen". The only way to counter the worst case scenario is to obtain a copy of all your medical records...

    AF reserves hypogonadism MEB

I'm talking about all medical records. The way to show that something doesn't exist is to have looked for it everywhere it should be and to note it isn't found. For active duty, this is a simple request made at the local clinic. If you receive medical care other than the base clinic, this may be...

    AF reserves hypogonadism MEB

I doubt this process will go very far. Good news is you have numerous avenues during the process to end it -- none of them exist yet, because it sounds like they haven't officially started it. Go get a complete copy of your medical records now. They'll put them on a DVD in a big PDF. You can...

    SAFPC Appeal

I was told my SAFPC appeal was heard the end of September; I appealed at the end of June. I have not heard any results yet; although I am told it takes about 4 weeks....

    I don't understand this process

    1. You have 10 days to sign the form requesting an FPEB. Sounds like you want to. You do not need additional information, yet. Keep gathering documentation as you attend medical appointments trying to get better. 2. Rating is done by VA; this will be a reconsideration request coordinated...

    My Final MEB on LAS

    My Final MEB on LAS

If y'all are married or divorced, military disability is not severable in divorce. Percentage makes a huge difference. No matter the DoD percentage, you won't receive more than if you had a longevity retirement and concurrent receipt. This was confirmed by my attorney at my FPEB. Best of luck!

    Vestibular Conditions (Including Meniere's)

Predicting what the VA will do is not fruitful effort; you will know what they did once they tell you. You can request a reconsideration during the MEB process and even after the MEB process. You can fight with the VA until you win or die. Much like DBFM, you need to preserve your energy and use...

IPEB Appeal Questions, MDD, Found Fit

The more prepared you are for your attorney, the better your attorney will do with your case. Absolutely print out the records with your concerns and highlight them. Your attorney has a finite time that they can spend on your case, anything you do that saves them time allows them to better...

Thinking of declining MEB/New MEB process for Air Force?

Even your dream job will be temporary. MEB benefits are until you die -- most likely much longer than your dream job. And you never have to earn them again. Forgo the benefits and you'll have to earn them over and over until you die.

Thinking of declining MEB/New MEB process for Air Force?

There are significant benefits of going through the IDES / MEB process. The unknown timeframe sucks, but the rewards may well last a lifetime. I personally wouldn't skip it, although YMMV.
