    DFAS CRSC pay statement question

Both situations can be beneficial to the SM. I would suggest to apply regardless of what situation applies to you. Any extra money from CRSC whether $20 or $1000 is always beneficial. As far as offset, the second situation applied to me. VA offset my whole retirement from DoD. As such, when CRSC...

    CRSC and retired pay

Your PEBLO is wrong, your CRSC will be closer to $1054 than $1854. Like others have mentioned, CRSC is based on the lesser amount of compensation based on your LOS or VA rating for combat injuries. In your case using the numbers you have posted it would look something like this: 11.4 X 2.5=...

    Take disability over retirement.

Each person has their own personal reasons for making the decisions that will be more beneficial for them. For you, maybe severance helped you out in the short run. $1200 a month might not sound like a lot in the beginning but in the long run it can add up. I'm playing with numbers here with...

    TDRL

Also Amy be careful on the information you give out, or maybe clarify a little. "On a good note, since you have 18 years in, your TDRL time will count towards you accomplishing your 20 years." If you meant this for pay purposes if you are found fit for duty and decide to rejoin the ranks, then...

    TDRL

Final Pay and High 36 systems you earn 2.5% per year of service. That means you get 50% for 20 years of service up to a maximum of 100% for 40 years. You are correct, but they system also applies to those with less than 20 yrs of service that are retired. As per...

    CRSC calculator problem

Ok, let me give this a try.Might not be 100% accurate but should be close. I will be using 2013 military pay chart instead of trying to figure out your High 3. So an E-5 base pay for 2013 is $2707. You were retired with 60% from DoD as an E-5 which you should be receiving approximately $1624...

    CRSC calculator problem

CRSC is compensation based on combat related injuries based on VA rating. For Ch. 61 retirees, CRSC is the lesser of the following 2 amounts, retired pay based on years of service or the amount rated by VA that is deemed combat related. In my case, I was retired from the Army with 12 yrs 9...

TDRL Findings Came in today. (NEED HELP FAST )

From personal experience, I do not believe your 70% for PTSD should have an impact for the VA. I was rated 70% for PTSD/TBI from DoD and only 50% by the VA. You are already maxed out on DoD for retirement purposes at 80%, although you will only get paid at 75% rate like Nwlivewire pointed out...

Can you lose a percentage ?

It depends on your medical condition. You might be put on PDRL with a 50% rating or they might lower it. You might continue on TDRL. You might be rated with less than 30% and given severance. You might be found fit and allowed to go back in the military. It all depends on your condition.

    Need help understanding!!

Being eligible for retirement is one requirement for CRSC, that doesn't mean that you qualify. You have to also take into account on whether your injuries are combat related, instrumentalities of war, etc and what percentage of your injuries fall in this category.

    Need help understanding!!

You can only get both DoD and VA if you have over 20yrs time in service. Otherwise, because your injury is combat related, and you will be retiring, you can apply for CRSC. This might make you eligible for a little extra based on the formula the CRSC people use to come up with an amount.

    TDRL pay and VA compensation

Ok, the only way i see someone with less than 20 yrs total service getting both DoD pay and VA is if DoD retirement pay is more than VA. For ex. if the 40% retirement is more than the 70% VA rating then you would get VA check plus whatever is left after subtracting the VA amount from DoD amount...

    Yet Another CRSC Question?

The calculator is a good tool, but not 100% accurate, just keep that in mind. The amount shown is actually about $241 more that what i'm getting. Its showing that I should get $545 but i only receive $304. Just a heads up.

    Gi bill and tdiu/disability comp

Talk to a voc rehab counselor, that would cover you notifying the VA that you are trying to go to school. Even though IU regulation does not mention anything about school, VA can look at you trying to better yourself through school for employment in which case VA would not pay you for IU...

    Combat related?

Good tool eagleone. Although not entirely accurate. My CRSC is off by about $363. Don't know if its because of the calculator or a mistake at DFAS. But good tool nonetheless to get an approximate estimate. ;)

    Combat related?

No, CRSC calculation is not that simple. Using Icepilot's example of ratings 60% DoD and 80% VA, the calculations would work as follows: 1.Total DoD disability retirement= 60% of base pay ($2000)=$1200 2.Minus LOS retirement amount, let's say you have 10ys in so you would calculate as...

    Retirement or VA

There really is no difference if your conditions are combat related, both your retirement and VA will be tax free. You do have a choice on whether you want to receive DoD retirement or VA compensation. Now if you are going to apply for CRSC (which is recommended), part of your DoD retirement...

New article army times CH 61 under 20 CDRP

So what you are saying is that CRDP and CRSC should not exist regardless if you served 1yr or 24yrs in the military because the military is already compensatiing a disabled soldier for his disabilities and a 20yr+ soldier for his time in service?
