    Life Insurance after the Military

I just got my VGLI coverage letter yesterday and for $250k worth of coverage at age 35 I will pay $32.50/m but the rates go up every 5 years. Fast forward to age 75+ and premiums are close to $1700/m. That's insane! I am going to look around and see if I can find better rates.

    Grade Determination

What I was told from AFPC was that if you are demoted during an MEB process YOU have to request a rank determination. That process is pretty much the same as "high 3".

    Stressed to the MAX

Your CC holds 99% of the power IMO. Several months prior to my MEB my wife and I purchased airline tickets to Europe for her sisters wedding, my CC approved leave as I had followed the rules for taking leave, going overseas, security briefings, etc.. Fast forward to a week before travel date and...

    Retirees Losing TRICARE PRIME

If prescriptions count towards your cap that makes standard more appealing.

    Retirees Losing TRICARE PRIME

So if I'm reading this correctly 1 Oct 13 if you have Tricare Prime and live in the North or South region and don't live within a 40 mile radius of a base you will be automatically switched to Tricare Standard? What exactly does the $3,000/y "cap" mean with Tricare Standard?

    AF PT and Asthma

IIRC if you are inside 17-20 years TIS they can't just separate you. If you do get demoted AFPC will do a rank determination. You will still get high 3, and the difference in pay amount would be negligible. Don't stress, although I didn't have quite as long TIS as you I went through almost your...

Post 911 GI Bill BAH stipend

The BAH rate you receive is based off of the school year you are attending. I am currently still in the 2012 school year, which runs from August to July, so technically I am receiving the correct rate!

Post 911 GI Bill BAH stipend

I cannot find clarification on this. The college I am attending uses the same zip code for Seymour Johnson AFB, NC 27534 but I am receiving a lower BAH rate. The SJAFB rate is $1,170/month and I am receiving $1,104/month. I am enrolled full time, 12 semester hours all in class courses. Is this...

    DAV w-2?

Since I am receiving my retirement from the VA (higher rating than USAF) do we get a w-2/tax statement? I know that it is tax free but I'm just wondering if I need one to file my taxes?

Thanks, I called them and then tried to apply online again......it appears Safari didn't like the website but everything was fine with FireFox! I successfully submitted application + payment, now I have to wait until it is approved since it is past 120 days since separation!

    Tricare

I opted for Tricare Prime and the local MTF cannot keep up with retirees so we had to choose from a list of doctors in the local area. We haven't had to see that doctor yet, thankfully. I don't think the $43.33/m we have to pay along with $12 co-pays is bad, am I misinterpreting something?
