Here We go Again!- Government Shutdown

So can someone clarify. Is the VA' "Field Guide" accurate and will funds run out so Verterans who receive disability payments will not be getting paid in November? If your VA rating was higher then your service retirement and th VA funds do dry up will your pay be reverted back to your service...

Here We go Again!- Government Shutdown

I am speaking of what I was personally told by my VA counselor. If they are not a credible source who would be then? I just learned that if you use USAA and are affected by a pay halt due to budget situation (and have been using direct deposit of payments) they are offering zero percent loans to...

Here We go Again!- Government Shutdown

I just spoke with my Voc Rehab counselor and she said "all disability payments WILL stop" if the budget is not signed, this includes BAH stipends. She did say that once budget is signed Vets will receive retroactive payments but she said she has not been told at which the speed of those payments...

    Tricare copay rate increase

My family has Tricare Prime. I have been seeing my psychiatrist since before I was medically retired. Around January they switched my co-pays from $12 to $25 per visit. I have been contemplating switching to Standard as there would be no annual fee, I currently pay $433/year. With Prime only the...

just informed that Post 911 GI Bill now will not cover certain classes

I took moneyblind's advice and applied for Voc Rehab aka Chapter 31. I was approved to finish my bachelors degree and I have my final appointment in a couple weeks to show them the homework they required to finalize. Everything seems like it is going to be far more beneficial than the Post 9/11...

    SBP option for retirement

I'm quite younger and selecting the full 55% for SBP will help my wife if I do pass, more than $77/m will help me now. Since I was retired at such a you age it seemed like a no brainer. I have a $250k VGLI policy currently but I'm looking for a better policy.

    Tricare copay rate increase

No I am Prime. I cannot believe that a standard doctor visit copay is still $12 but any behavioral health visit now has a $25 copay. This is absolutely ridiculous. Sure I can go to the VA for treatment but the closest one is an hour and a half away.

    Tricare copay rate increase

I just received a bill from my psychiatrist for $13 even though I paid my $12 copay on the day of visit. I contacted Tricare and they said that as of 1 Jan 13 any mental health visit to the doctor copays are now $25. Is this accurate? One of the things I was medically retired for was anxiety and...

just informed that Post 911 GI Bill now will not cover certain classes

What do you mean by saying I'm ignoring a solution to my problem? Voc rehab doesn't get you a degree. Why would I want to use my 36 months on something that's not going to net me a degree? I'm taking a full load currently and in Fall I will be taking 17 semester hours. Just 4 of those will be...

Beneficiary Rx Co-Pays Would Climb for a Decade

The good news for the majority of people here in the new Bill is that if you are medically retired your fees/costs won't go up if I'm reading it correctly. Can you chime in Jason, is that correct?

I'm going to get my degree, that's my primary goal. If I get close to it I might switch to the voc rehab and learn another skill and finish my degree out of pocket. Iirc you can do that.

Beneficiary Rx Co-Pays Would Climb for a Decade

There are medicines they won't ship through the mail and the ones they do you can't get a 90 day supply which ends up costing us more!

voc rehab is not what I want. I am going to use my GI Bill to finish my BS in CS degree. I just needed to take a couple prep classes in math since my pre-testing sucked! The college I'm going to was informed by VA that their prep/developmental classes are no longer covered under benefits! I...

just informed that Post 911 GI Bill now will not cover certain classes

I have been enrolled at a local community college for the past semester and when I registered for Fall 2013 classes I was told that certain "developmental" classes are no longer funded by my Post 911 GI Bill. Why the heck not? If we as veterans need a class to advance towards our degree and we...

Beneficiary Rx Co-Pays Would Climb for a Decade

Kind of hard to believe that a nation that promises things will back down from their word when other things not so important stay funded. Life Insurance after the Military

I have another policy my parents took out on me when I was younger and I don't have to pay anything into after 25 years. I don't want to pay fr an insurance policy for 30-40 years and end up having to quit it because the premiums are too high.
