Is an MEB process likely to occur close to retirement?

Once my package came back from the IRILO directing a full board I had to sign a form acknowledging to proceed with the board or waive the right to a full board and elect a regular retirement. I decided to accept the board mainly because we had just started the shutdown from COVID so I was not...

Is an MEB process likely to occur close to retirement?

I was also just medically retired over 20. AD AF. I had an approved retirement date prior to being boarded. They did give me the option to waive the medical board but I decided to take it to get all of my VA medical done while I was still active.

Thank you! Yes, I selected my retirement date. I’m taking 20 Permissive and 69 leave days. I’m selling 22 days because it’s financially more beneficial with my retirement, 100% VA and leave sell back.

Mine went up the day before yours. I’m looking to receive my orders this week. I figured the power issues in San Antonio messed things up last week.

Ok, I’m glad your PEBLO explained everything. So once you get an email from MILPERS saying the IPEB has received your package I would say you should have a decision back within a week. You’ll get another email saying they have sent the findings to your PEBLO. At that point your PEBLO will...

Honestly I’m confused at this point. The only time there is a local board is when your package goes before the DAWG in the beginning of the process. You’re past that point. Please let me know what happens. You can’t have your findings back if you haven’t reviewed your NARSUM and signed your AF...

That doesn’t make sense to me either. Your rating has nothing to do with your NARSUM briefing being accomplished. You shouldn’t be dealing with your MSC anymore. Only your PEBLO. Ask him/her what’s the status of your case. And what actions need to be taken before it gets to next step.

Your PEBLO will have the VA results in a few business days. That shouldn’t be your concern though. Where are you at with signing your package/Narsum to be sent up to the IPEB? Once your package is sent to IPEB it’ll take about a week or two for a decision. Once your findings come back from the...

Thank you! I’m just starting the process. I’m thankful to know that now rather than later. I definitely thought I could potentially walk away receiving higher than my 20 yr longevity. One less rabbit hole to go down.

Hi Ron. I’m new here and have been reading through the entire forum. What a wealth of information that is provided. I want to make sure I understand what you’re saying about the longevity rule. Am I correct in saying that a 20yr+ Active Duty member will not benefit any more or less from the DoD...
