From initial diagnosis to retirement date: 10 months. From official MEB start date to retirement date: 6 months. Keep in mind this was for the Air Force.

    The overseas process

Thanks for sharing. Yeah someone must’ve really messed up bad sending you to Korea with a BP1 diagnosis, I was medboarded out immediately. Hopefully your process goes smoothly from here on out.

    ratings question

Yeah VA math is weird. I don’t even bother trying to calculate myself especially when it comes to multiple ratings or bilateral factors so instead use the various online calculators out there. In your case 70% + 10% = 73%, need to hit at least 75% to round up to 80%...

    PEB Tracking

When your stuff finally goes to AFPC it’s like shooting it off into a black hole. You won’t be able track anything or hear any updates until it comes back to your PEBLO unfortunately, although I will say that my claim was marked as completed/closed out on VA.gov 5 days before I got my results...

    My IPEB Full Timeline

I filled this out and sent it in to the VA (or gave it to my VSO while on terminal, can’t remember) to be added to my file. My MSC, PEBLO, and AF Wounder Warrior rep were clueless as well but I figured I’d cover my ass. I had no issues concerning receiving the proper pay when out...

    VA rating and DoD rating

Unless you’re like O5+ or near 20 years of service you’d likely get more $ from the VA at 100% so for the vast majority the answer is no. The exception of course is CRSC which is when any of the conditions you were rated for were combat related. In that case CRSC would restore a certain portion...

    Can commander force Legacy DES?

Sorry for the late reply but yes that’s correct. If you get your rating before you get out (IDES) or say 3 months after (LDES) it will backdate to your DOS. Of course if you were given say 50% by the board you would be medically retired and receive pay from the DOD immediately until your VA...

    Code 37??

I found that throughout the MEB process everything seems to take way longer than it should but ofcourse there are also many things happening behind the scenes. That being said I HIGHLY recommend using the time you have to get smart on the process ahead of time like reading AFI 36-3212 and AFMAN...

    Can commander force Legacy DES?

Damn, sorry to hear that, was afraid that would happen. From what I’ve seen on this board though I think you’ll still be ok, haven’t really seen anybody get lowballed. Just make sure to continue documenting your symptoms for if/when you eventually go through the VA as you’d likely get more from...

    Can commander force Legacy DES?

In the Air Force they can and I’ve seen it happen, not sure if it’s the same for all branches though. 1.1.2.1. The LDES process is an exception to the IDES policy. A service member may request processing through LDES, or a commander may direct a service member, to include Initial Entry...

MEB retirement, what to do next

Yep, took about 30 days after my retirement for everything to update and reflect correctly.

anyone has not received their final decision letter within 30 days after separation?

I literally just googled “xxxx county VSO” and they came up lol

anyone has not received their final decision letter within 30 days after separation?

Veterans Service Officer, each county in your state should have one. They’ve helped me quite a bit so far and can pull up your VA file. Gave me my code sheet too which shows which conditions are considered static and when my next routine future exam will be for those that aren’t.

anyone has not received their final decision letter within 30 days after separation?

I retired 29 Apr 22 and received my packet 23 May 22. Faxed in my DD214 the day after I retired (for reference). I’d call the VA or talk to your VSO to see what’s going on.

    My IDES Timeline

My rating didn’t show on ebenefits until 15 days after my retirement and I still have yet to receive a “final letter”. Just make sure the VA gets a copy of your DD214 as soon as you get it to get things rolling, I had to fax mine in.

PTSD and MDD with anxietY. Things left out of report — can someone explain? Should I appeal?

Can’t do a VARR if the rating comes back unfavorable so you’d probably have to talk to your MSC about your next course of action. Could possibly fight for a new exam or add additional/supporting evidence, even like a statement in support of claim. I added a headache log which probably helped me...

    Bipolar II Pilot IDES Timeline

I took SBP, solely because getting life insurance with a recent mental health hospitalization and bipolar diagnosis made it very expensive. Will reevaluate in 2 years as I believe you get a window to cancel it between 2-3 years after electing for it.

Finally received my ratings! How long does it take to outprocess?

I was wondering the same thing, already out-processed finance and leave in 2 days, never signed or saw anything regarding this.
