    Training/Instrumentality of/for war

Long shot but thought this was the place to ask... My injury that had me on a med board was sustained while at a KD/UD live fire training event. Tore a muscle right off the bone playing with target points. For purposes of tax free severance, is this something that can be considered...

Can I get FERS retirement AND VA Disability pay?

I tried contacting DFAS through their portal once. It was the least intuitive system I've encountered in my modest years of surfing the web. Getting an answer is like the old 90s commerical where the dude slays the lava monster and suddenly has a set of blues and a blood stripe.

Medical Sep vs Medical Retirement for CRSC and FERS buyback

Hi Ron, Already received the lump sum and understand how it's calculated. The only way I keep it and upgrade to medical retirement is if the additional injury is seen as combat related. That blurb from my first post was simply to highlight the amount was large and I have little inclination of...

CRSC and FERS and NOT waiving military retired pay...

For the FERS w. CRSC savvy folks, If less than 20 years but medically retired with combat related injuries in the PEB findings and approved CRSC from the component, can the veteran maintain his special compensation and participate in the FERS buyback, if they accept the findings?

Can I get FERS retirement AND VA Disability pay?

Found this thread @RonG ! Tbh, section B seems contradictory to itself but if unfitting combat related injuries are compulsory to both retaining "retirement pay" and accessing FERS w. Concurrent CRSC, I'll take it.

How PDRL + late CRCS impact FERS with Buy Back & vice-versa?

Did you ever get an answer on this? I might be in a similar situation soon. If approved for CRSC by the service component does this nullify a prior or future FERS buyback? For me, the CRSC could be anywhere from 1200 to 2000 a month but with the possiblity of not buying back service

Medical Sep vs Medical Retirement for CRSC and FERS buyback

Hi, Correct me if I'm wrong, If my retired "pay" is completely offset by my VA (3850 for 100% P&T, longevity pay would only be 1800), the only addition to my current monthly payout would be whatever is allowed via CRSC. I'm tracking the buy back payout but I'm wondering if nothing changes and...

Medical Sep vs Medical Retirement for CRSC and FERS buyback

Hi Mike, This bears consideration now because I will be faced with the option of paying back my rather large severance or refusing the upgrade to medical retirement if the condition does not come back as combat related, thereby opening the door for CRSC through the service branch. IF (I'm not...

Medical Sep vs Medical Retirement for CRSC and FERS buyback

Hi Ron, Thank you for taking the time, you're insight on this forum has been invaluable for so many. I'll try and fill in the blanks a bit to help with the overall equation. My longevity payout should sit just below 1800 ( I missed BRS eligibility by 4 months, not that I would have taken it...

Medical Sep vs Medical Retirement for CRSC and FERS buyback

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to make this all fit and hopefully the smart folks here can help. I medically separated at 15 years 11 months with 20% DoD disability, 100% P&T VA disability ($3850)- spouse & 2 kids w. SMC (high 3 average would have been somewhere around $4525 if that helps...
