Happy Monday!
wondering if anyone is familiar with the SMCRA in relation to PEB/discharge - would it make you eligible for any of the coverings of the SMCRA or not since it's not an overseas PCS/deployment?
The PEB must sign off on the VA's decision, as well as they use the VA's rating to determine the DoD rating. All cases end up back at the PEB after the VA before they make it back to you.

Adding this note: if your claim is still at the VA stage you can call their customer service at 800-827-1000 and ask them if they've received the case from the PEB and if they can give you a status update. I've actually found that they're very helpful and willing to give you any information...

In the interim between my reply and yours, I spoke with a Gunny at the office in DC who said QA is undermanned and at a ~30 day timeline right now. Hurry up and wait...again.
Mine went to the VA on 22OCT and came back 8NOV. You can call their customer service line and ask if there's a status.
Have you checked the status online? It's possible they've already finished & you're just awaiting final PEB decision.
