Michelle,
I assume that you are 60% PDRL.
- Your immediate pay will be based on 60% of the Final Average Salary for your highest-36 years.
- As someone with a 20-year letter, you can get concurrent receipt when you are eligable for your regular reserve retirement pay. Disability retirees...
TJkick,
This is how it works for reservists. I am in a very close situation. The combat-related calculation is base on TOTAL POINTS (not just active duty points). I am not even going to try the calculation, but you can get on AKO's "my-benifit", and "disability payments," (get password from AKO...
The Below is the cut-and-paste from last year's HR303. I can't find this year's. Looks like it doesn't remove the Chapt 61 exception. :( It also defines a "qualified retiree" and exempts Chapt 61 retirees. Sec 4 (a)(1) Still looking...
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the...
Also, doesn't apply to 20 year (grey-area / Chapt. 61) reservists that haven't reached 60 years (younger with qualifying active service). Interesting to note, for reservists on MRP orders (MEB/PEB processing), MRP time doesn't count toward a reduced retirement age (MRP orders are specifically...
This is why I highly recommend signing a power of attorney with a Veteran's Service Org. (DAV, VFW, FL...) They have nothing from stopping them from helping out SMs and Veterans that have questions about the VA processes.
I haven't heard anyone being found "unfitting" for sleep apnea. I sleep 2-3 hours a night, and the army doesn't care, but for me it is a secondary to other issues. All that I heard is that it is usually a significant VA issue.
Chapter-61 retirement requires that the combined line-of-duties injuries be unfitting for your specialty and service, before the VA ratings schedule come into it. Just because you have a VA disabiltiy doesn't mean that the service cares. Make sure that you check your service's "unfitting regs."...
If you are doing an appeal, the VA is probably waiting for the appeal process to finish before the VA's C&P exam is released. Don't worry about the VA until your service determines fit-or-unfit status. It won't do you any good and will just get you frustrated.
The VA won't even start to...
The only time that I have heard that someone would directly benefit from declining separation is if a reservist with a 20-year letter accepts severance, he losses his retirement pay (on hitting 60 years). The above reservist with a 20-year letter should NEVER accept severance pay. It is costly...
Try using Internet Explorer for the DFAS site.
You can also send an e-mail to the AKO Help Desk linked from the <Help> menu. It took a day for them to respond to the request for the passcode:
If you require technical assistance or have questions that are unanswered after viewing this site...
That is funny and the Marines are probably honored that their beach qualified personnel has a beer named after them. :)
You must have an apple. If you have access to a real computer, try it with a PC. Otherwise, you can try the following: Try the AKO Disabled Pay Calculator ( you can get the...
