Wait Time For Providence, RI

your first thought was right, the last 3 days of the month rule is the end, that way there is little to no break in your pay. (VA benefits are paid from the first day of the month), I was just pointing out that before you start terminal/permissive, you can elect to final out at like 8am and they still do not count that day as leave, so even if you get shorted by half a day of leave, you can " get it back" by final outing early and being done.

Once you receive your ratings and you "accept" part of the paperwork is to select your final day, or you can leave that one blank and just fill in how much leave you have/want to take and permissive and let afpc do the calculation for you and select the day. in my case I have/had 62 days of leave the day I turned in my paperwork, will gain 7.5 by my final date and after you add in the 20 days permissive if retiring that left me with 29.5 days I "had" to take, and 60 days of leave I can either use or sell. So I elected to go for the end of may (89 days technically), so I could use half and sell half. I just hope my orders come in time for that to work out, as I really wanna be on terminal by april 7th.
Twitch, make sure you do not leave before the start of your permissive as you wont get paid for travel if you do. You must be on leave so you can get paid for your move. Also on a side note only took me 3 days to get my orders once Isign AF form 356 for my ratings for those who need to know.

That is incredibly swift. I am on business day 6 now waiting for my retirement orders. I have been told it can take 3-6 weeks for Navy.

got my orders yesterday/picked up today, was told by finance that I can only take terminal leave of days over my 60. I can still use what leave I have etc. but cannot start terminal. So I am stuck using a bunch of leave, or selling a bunch of leave, and then going back in to final out.

Not going anywhere, got a nice little goat and highland cattle hobby farm going on here that is dang near almost profitable or at least break even. plus, my body and mind could not deal with a traditional pcs style move right now. This was going to be my retirement home, just starting that bit a few years earlier than expected.

So my ebennies has been in pending decision approval since the 13th. I called VA and spoke to 'Peggy' and she told me that the decision has been finalized and that I am in the notification phase. She said to expect a packet in the mail and took down my address. Now, I am pretty sure that I'm not going to get anything in the mail. As I understand it, they send my ratings to the PEB and then I get a call from my PEBLO when it's all done. I'm thinking this means they sent my ratings to the PEB on the 13th or 14th and that I should expect a call from PEBLO sometime between next week and mid April. Am I interpreting this right? She said it can take up to 3 months for the notification phase but I just don't think she understands IDES. Any thoughts?

Meg, I've received/signed my findings already and my Ebennies still says "Pending decision approval".

Peggy is generally oblivious to IDES protocols, other than of course them knowing that if we are active duty we need to get information from our PEBLO and not them (bullshit). Active duty service members do not receive their ratings in the mail.

The VA will forward your proposed ratings to the PEB and they will forward them to your PEBLO. It took me 1 month after the VA completed my ratings for my PEBLO to call me to set up an appointment to sign and accept the ratings.

I see your interpretation of everything to be as clear as a San Diego day. I would expect a call from your PEBLO anytime within the next month. It took exactly one month for me after my ratings were complete to receive and sign my ratings...

Do you have a DAV service rep? I would call my service rep to confirm that the ratings were actually COMPLETE.

I do not have a DAV service rep. When this whole process started, one of the PEBLOs here told me to expect my ratings in April. So I've been thinking that the whole time anyway. Looks like he was right. My unfit was dated Dec 12 so I'm not worried yet. And the fact that my ebennies says pending decision approval gives me hope. I have decided that if I don't hear back by April 15th, then I will get a DAV rep. Because that is over 4 months since my unfit memo. Until then I'm just gonna keep telling myself, "any day now." I am so over this whole thing. I am enlisted with a Master's degree. This is such a waste of time.

I have heard a rumor (confirmed by a prior coworker that went through this last year) that your peblo can see your ratings even before the PEB is done with them. If you are in good with your Peblo or have a nice PEBLO you should call and ask them to look in their system and see if they will tell you unofficially.

Still no word on my package either (4 1/2 months), my VA rep is getting her supervisor involved, so we will see if that makes any difference

Once you decide you want to get to DAV service rep you will have to fax them a Power of Attorney. Then after a few days that will clear and the service rep will be able to access your claim.

Meg, IMO- from what you've posted, it sounds like your claim has been completed you are just waiting for the PEB to send the proposed ratings to your PEBLO. That wait can be brutal, I know. I signed mine a few days ago and now I am waiting for my retirement orders.

Each day is one day closer to the day I (We) are done with this process.

I know. I'm really trying to be patient. My ebennies says pending decision approval but 'Peggy' told me I am in the notification phase. I don't know what to think. I am hoping that Peggy was right and that my stuff has already been sent to the PEB. But it could also be on some guy's desk waiting approval still. I am going to drive myself crazy lol. My husband and my kids already moved back home which is a 12 hour drive from here. I just miss them and I want to go home. I'm going nuts trying to figure out how much longer it will be. I may as well be trying to find the yellow brick road for all the good it's done me. This process makes no sense. I have decided that if I don't hear back by April 1st, I'm gonna call and sweet talk my PEBLO for ratings. If I still haven't heard by April 15th, I'm getting a DAV rep. That's the plan but I hope I don't have to enact it. I feel like I'm gonna be stuck here til I'm 30.

Awesome Warrior! Thaks buddy!!!

Indeed, no worries buddy; you are welcome! ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Indeed, congratulations on your receipt of official military disability retirement orders at this point! Good deal! :)

Albeit, from an U.S. Army perspective, the USAF Finance Office's policy referencing terminal leave seems non-productive to the military service member in my opinion. Hmm, I was authorized to take 82 days of military transition leave while selling 9 days back to the USG and had my U.S. Army Finance final out appointment prior to the start of military transition leave.

That said, wow, I really want to use much stronger verbiage, but I shall reserve that fruitful opportunity for others.

Nonetheless, what's your plan of attack? Sell or use then report back for a final out USAF Finance appointment?

Indeed, from my experiences within the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process, your interpretations are centered directly on the bull's eye! ;)

From an U.S. Army perspective at least for me, my PEBLO unofficially and indirectly informed me of my DoVA proposed ratings immediately upon receipt via a "higher or lower" range estimation process of elimination method while maintaining his oath to not divulge until completion of IPEB findings inclusive of DoD and DoVA proposed ratings. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

OK it only took 135 days, but there has been movement, I am now in the Preperation for decision phase. Does anyone recall how long there ebennies stayed there?

Mine was in prep for decision for 1 day. It then moved to pending decision approval. It's been there since the 13th. So I wait. It's frustrating because there is always more waiting. But hey, at least we know our stuff is being worked on right?

Absolutely, it made Friday even better, although, now I just want to go home and have a beer to start the weekend!!!

Just sweet talked my PEBLO this morning and even though my findings aren't back yet from the PEB he was able to give me my preliminary ratings. I was rated 40% DoD and 50% VA. I should be getting a phone call anyday now. Hopefully this week.

A little sweet talkin' never hurt anybody!!
